Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an Exciting Potential Opportunity for a Registered Nurse-Hemodialysis supporting Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree/Education: Associate Degree (AND) or a Baccalaureate Degree (BSN) program in nursing accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized try the US Department of Education. BSN is preferred.
  • Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: In addition, HCW is required to maintain current certification requirements for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Completion of either the Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) is required within 9 months of hiring.
  • Experience: must have practiced as a Registered Nurse performing hands on patient care in a Hemodialysis Unit clinical setting for at least 36 months within the past 5 years. Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of critically ill patients. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes specific to the Nephrology population; a wide range of medical disorders and conditions for nephrology and hemodialysis patients; preventative health schedules, procedures, processes, and education models; a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations are required, administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care. Must possess a thorough understanding of water purification standards to ensure unit complieswith AAMI guideline.

Duties:

  • Coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility.
  • Provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Communicate and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Operate and monitor hemodialysis machines and portable reverse osmosis machines and other specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion 12 pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring devices, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other unit specificequipment.
  • Perform, initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis treatments (as needed).
  • Receive reports from other health care members on the physical and emotional status of each patient as necessary.
  • Ensure all physician's orders are executed as written.
