Your missions

Ownershift is a for-profit, purpose-driven acquisition platform that purchases high-quality, long-tenured small businesses from retiring owners and implements broad-based employee ownership programs upon closing, enabling employees to directly participate in business success. Our goal is to become the preferred buyer for retiring owners by offering quick, efficient acquisitions and facilitating employee ownership legacies. This creates a win-win for retiring owners, employees, communities, and investors, ensuring secure financial positions and legacies for owners, financial participation and wealth creation paths for employees, retention of valuable businesses for communities, and strong financial returns for investors.

Job Summary:

As a Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst, you will play a crucial role in business development and the acquisition process. You will work closely with the M&A team in managing a high-volume transaction pipeline and engaging acquisition opportunities. Acquisition targets are companies in specialized, blue-collar industries but that are enduringly profitable with stable YoY revenue (e.g., industrial services, home services, niche manufacturing). Target companies will have EBITDA of ~$1-2MM. In addition to supporting acquisition efforts, you will contribute to building a scalable process to facilitate a high volume of acquisitions (e.g., 15+ a year at scale), including the buildout of tools such as sourcing databases and due diligence checklist.

How you’ll make an impact:

Business Development

  • Manage acquisition pipeline by building sourcing relationships nationwide with brokers, investment bankers, accountants, and lawyers.
  • Build scalable tools to facilitate a high-volume of transaction opportunity engagement.
  • Assess risks and opportunities associated with each acquisition opportunity.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate efforts across various departments, including M&A and operations.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communication channels to provide updates, address concerns, and track progress.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success of deal sourcing efforts.
  • Monitor performance against targets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • 1-3 years of business development and M&A transaction execution experience, either in private equity, corporate development, consulting, or investment banking.
  • Experience with deal origination, due diligence, and financial modelling.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience building operational processes and establishing clear, ambitious KPIs.
  • Superb attention to detail.

Compensation:

This position will receive a competitive base salary DOE, early-stage equity, and a generous benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, unlimited PTO, and paid holidays.
