Overview of Position:

The Telecom Project Engineer designs solutions for projects including VSAT technology plus (but not limited to) the following telecommunications sub-systems : LAN, WAN, Wireless Networks, Entertainment Video-Audio, IPTV, TVRO, CCTV, Digital Signage, Radar, Radio – VHF/UHF (2-Way, Trunking Repeater, Aviation, Marine), PAGA, PBX, VoIP, Satellite Phone, Fiber Optic and Copper Structured Cable Systems, MDF-IDF, UPS, Microwave, Weather systems, Personnel-Vehicle Tracking and Access Control systems. This position will be based in Mozambique supporting a customer directly in 3 distinct locations. This position will be on a rotation schedule (TBD) working 2 or 4 weeks on/off, however subject to change based on customer requirements.

The Telecomm Project Engineer works closely with the Program/Project Manager and oversees the design, development, and implementation of a customer focused solution, based on specific requirements defined within a project plan and contract. They will be responsible in the day to day operations/maintenance of defined Telecom Systems within each of the customer locations. They also assist the Program/Project Manager in qualifying and gathering resources needed to complete the technical work package.

What you will do:

  • Define, develop, oversee and coordinate all design related activities defined within the scope of the project.
  • Provide technical/analytical guidance to project team both internal departments and clients.
  • Manage local work with other Telecom Technicians in scheduling field service dispatches and maintenance activities.
  • Assist to develop and monitor detailed work plans, work schedules, project estimates, resource plans, budgets, and status reports from initiation through delivery.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals on a daily basis.
  • Interface with functional peer groups, management and/or outside customers by gaining cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
  • Direct the design of projects and interface with the drafting department to ensure that all engineering parameters, needs, and client requirements are being fulfilled on a timely basis.
  • Manage the integration of vendor tasks, track, and review vendor documentation deliverables.
  • Interface with customers on technical matters on a regular basis.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or 5+ years of applicable work experience)
  • Hands-on experience with VSAT, Microwave, Two Way Radio communication, CCTV, Access Control IPTV and/or Navigational Electronic Systems.
  • Basic knowledge of LAN Structure.
  • Some experience in IP network design and implementation using CISCO and other vendor equipment.
  • Intermediate to Expert knowledge of RF technologies to include 2-Way radio systems, VSAT, TVRO, Microwave and Wi-Fi.
  • A Basic understanding of design and configuration using fiber optics and structured cabling.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple projects and function with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of concepts and issues across functional lines.
  • Self-starter: seek out potential issues that aren’t readily apparent
