Job summary

We are searching for a dynamic professional to join our Total Rewards Global Division as our newest Total Rewards Specialist, reporting into the Director, Total Rewards and Employee Wellness . The Total Rewards Specialist will support our overall Total Rewards strategy to ensure equitable and engaging programs that attract, advance, and retain talent at Aurora. This role provides subject matter expertise regarding organization-wide total rewards programs.

The Total Rewards Specialist will support the delivery and review of Aurora’s compensation programs and processes, including the annual compensation cycle, bonus program administration, market benchmarking reviews and compensation recommendations. They will also participate in the delivery of our wellness, benefits, and recognition offerings.

As a Total Reward Specialist you will be responsible for…

  • Support the planning and execution of the annual compensation cycle, including development of budget recommendations, development of training documentation, delivery of merit, incentive, and other annual compensation programs.
  • Use data modelling and analysis of external benchmarking to produce reports, presentations, and provide recommendations on total rewards programs.
  • Interpret, administer, review, and update Total Reward’s policies, procedures, and salary administration practices.
  • Act as an internal subject matter and partner with the HRBP team to provide guidance and consultation on all things total rewards while ensuring policies and practices are applied consistently.
  • Develop creative communications and/or presentations and find opportunities to amplify existing total rewards offerings, with a view to improve education, understanding and utilization for multiple locations and employee types.
  • Participate in networking, benchmarking, and market research to stay abreast of developments in compensation, benefits, recognition, and more broadly total rewards.
  • Support the development of material for the executive and/or Human Resources and Compensation Committee of the Board related to compensation programing decisions.
  • Participate in the design and delivery of the benefits programs for Canada.
  • Engage with HR Business Partners, Payroll, and third parties to resolve escalated compensation and benefits issues.
  • Support annual benefits enrolment activities.
  • Lead and/or participate in total rewards projects in which you partner with other members of the Total Rewards and HR teams, vendors, consultants, and other internal and external stakeholders, to create solutions that attract and motivate employees. Examples include development and implementation of job architecture and job leveling, review and development of recognition program(s), or development and enhancement of wellness programming.



You’re the ideal candidate if you have…

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ related Total Rewards experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources theories, principles, and practices, with a strong focus on Compensation
  • Experience with executive and equity compensation or administering compensation with SuccessFactors and/or Shareworks is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • A flair for presentation design and creativity in communicating.
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, ethics, and integrity.
  • Highly driven and self-motivated with superior people-first attitude.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Ability to conduct research and condense complex information into succinct reports or briefing notes/proposals.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders including associates, managers, vendors, client services representatives and consultants.
  • Ability to work independently on confidential information with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak, write and present in a clear, articulate manner for individual and/or group situations.
