How You’ll Contribute

As a Senior Funds Compliance Associate in Funds and Investments Compliance, you will be responsible for assisting with the administration of the compliance programs for Brighthouse Financial’s registered mutual funds, the Brighthouse Funds, and their affiliated investment adviser, Brighthouse Investment Advisers, LLC. You will also support the day-to-day operations of the insurance investments management compliance program, with a focus on ensuring the general account, managed separate accounts, and reinsurance trust accounts comply with applicable policies, procedures, and investment guidelines.

In This Role, You’ll Get To

  • Monitor the effectiveness of compliance policies and procedures on an ongoing basis, as required by Rule 38a-1 of Investment Company Act of 1940 and Rule 206(4)-7 of Investment Adviser Act of 1940, for Brighthouse’s registered mutual funds and their investment adviser. Revise and update compliance policies and procedures as needed.
  • Administer the Code of Ethics program of the Brighthouse Funds and Adviser.
  • Perform due diligence and oversight of external money managers’ compliance programs and investment operations.
  • Draft quarterly compliance reports to the Brighthouse Funds board of trustees.
  • Review and provide reporting regarding post-trade investment alerts and trade cost analysis for Brighthouse Funds.
  • Assist with Section 15(c) contract renewal process.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on the Brighthouse Funds and Adviser.
  • Support responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations.
  • Identify and effectively communicate compliance issues internally and to external asset managers and service providers, lead remediation and document corrective action as appropriate.
  • Support Brighthouse insurance investments management compliance program, with a focus on ensuring the general account, managed separate accounts, and reinsurance trust accounts comply with applicable policies, procedures, and investment guidelines.

We’re Looking For People Who Have

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. JD or MBA helpful, but not required.
  • 5+ years of related experience in investment management and/or financial services industry.
  • Experience in compliance program administration (including Code of Ethics administration and monitoring), preferred.
  • Ability to converse at an expert level on compliance matters related to mutual fund business and/or investment compliance monitoring.
  • Excellent Microsoft skills (especially Word and Excel).
  • Technical knowledge and experience with third-party diligence and monitoring tools (e.g., DiligenceVault, MyComplianceOffice) preferred.
  • Understanding of different asset classes and knowledge of securities laws preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to multi-task and work under pressure, while adhering to internal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze risks and controls and determine when controls are not operating effectively.
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with an ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Successful track record for delivering results in a timely manner.
  • Professional and articulate; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills with ability to synthesize complex and diverse information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentations and materials in partnership with senior management.
  • An analytical and detail-oriented approach and the ability to provide practical solutions.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to take on responsibility.
