Platform DevOps Engineer, Technology Solutions

We are seeking a Platform DevOps Engineer to join the Foundation in its mission of benefitting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. What You’ll Do

The Platform DevOps Engineer, Technology Solutions will be responsible for the optimization and operational support of the cloud infrastructure and back-end services, ensuring seamless operations across the product portfolio of the Technology Solutions department.

The Platform DevOps Engineer, Technology Solutions will work closely with the Platform DevOps Lead and several cross-functional partners to continuously enhance the Reliability, Scalability, Performance, and Security posture in compliance with industry standards and best practices.

• Design, implement and maintain tools and processes for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of software.
• Diagnose production issues, locate errors, and implement solutions. Participate in incident response and post-incident analysis.
• Evaluate infrastructure and resource-utilization to develop effective cost-optimization and management strategy via automation of cloud centric tools.
• Monitor and maintain the health of back-end services. This includes diagnosing and addressing any issues promptly and developing strategies to minimize impact.
• Serve as an escalation point for support specialists in troubleshooting complex workflows and resolving escalated production incidents.
• Participate in on-call rotation for incident management.

• Ability to work remotely and navigate various technology platforms (Zoom, MS Office Suite, Teams, Outlook, Salesforce Lightning and other database programs, Google Suite, etc.)
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information
• Resourceful with excellent follow-through skills and strong initiative; able to work under pressure to adhere to strict deadlines
• Knowledge of Agile project management methodologies and techniques (Scrum, Kanban, etc.), as well as other disciplines of project management
• Production support experience with incident/change management, and problem resolution
• Experience working with the varied classes of cloud storage systems
• Experience with cloud networking solutions (SDNs) provided by Amazon and Microsoft, including but not limited to connectivity, security, and redundancy
• Experience with micro services and distributed architecture applications
• Proficiency with Python, Chef, Groovy, or an equivalent scripting language
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with configuration management systems such as Saltstack, Chef, Puppet or Ansible
• Experience with cybersecurity compliance frameworks; NIST SP 800-53
• Familiarity of CAL-SECURE Strategic Pan a plus
