Your missions

Who we are

A piece of the moon, a complete dinosaur skeleton, the Pope's hat, the world's smallest book - at Catawiki, we come across exceptional objects such as these every day.

Catawiki is the leading online marketplace to buy and sell special objects. We offer over 75,000 special objects in auction every week — each reviewed and selected by one of Catawiki’s hundreds of in-house experts specialised in Art, Design, Jewellery, Fashion, Classic Cars, Collectables and many more.

We've sold 10 million unique items to date and it’s our mission to become the world’s most popular auction destination for special objects.

We’re an innovative, pioneering and fast-growing scale-up. If you think you can make a difference to our team, go ahead and apply.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Business Partner for a fixed period to collaborate closely with and support our business units, which we refer to as superclusters. This role involves a combination of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) activities, alongside strategic partnership responsibilities. Your primary duties will include the preparation, review, and analysis of both financial and non-financial information, coupled with the provision of insightful reports that drive performance improvement and help achieve our desired business outcomes. With your exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, you will be positioned to make a significant impact on the business and foster enhanced performance.

Given our rapid growth, the tasks and responsibilities of this role are subject to change. We seek a candidate who is enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and responsibilities as they arise. Our Commercial Finance team is headquartered in the Netherlands, operating on a hybrid model from our Amsterdam office. Therefore, it is highly preferred that you are based in the Netherlands and can travel to the Amsterdam office regularly.

What you’ll do
  • Drive performance through effective budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis of KPIs and key drivers.
  • Prepare and present monthly performance results of superclusters.
  • Attend and represent finance at relevant supercluster meetings.
  • Act as a financial advisor to these teams, playing a key role in commercial decision-making, business case analysis, and performance enhancement.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of the cost base (headcount and operational expenses), discussing variances to assess future P&L impact.
  • Support business planning processes (including weekly forecasting and quarterly detailed planning) through financial analysis, modelling, and facilitating planning discussions with key stakeholders.
  • Update Adaptive for quarterly forecasts and generate relevant reports.
What you’ll bring
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field; professionally qualified, working towards a relevant professional qualification, or equivalent experience (5+ years).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a talent for influencing multiple stakeholders.
  • Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in understanding, interpreting, and challenging financial data, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and Forward-Thinking: Demonstrate a proactive approach and future-oriented mindset.
  • Business Process Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of specific processes and business areas, with the ability to implement changes that add value to the business.
  • Motivation and Initiative: Highly motivated, with strong initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Demonstrates a strong desire and capability to collaborate within and across functions to achieve desired outcomes as a Commercial Business Partner.
  • Project and Change Management: Experience in participating in and executing projects and change management initiatives.
  • Industry Knowledge and Commercial Awareness: Good understanding of industry trends and commercial acumen.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in financial systems with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Additional Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
  • Demonstrated success in driving financial performance improvements.

We offer a stimulating work environment where your contributions will make a tangible difference. If you are ready to take on a role that offers both challenge and opportunity, we look forward to receiving your application.
