Project Description

The Eswatini National Youth Cooperative Alliance (ESNYCA)and Thirst Project in Eswatini have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Environmental Education and Climate Change Adaption Specialists. ESNYCA is an apex body for all youth cooperatives in the kingdom of Eswatini. Its mandate is to coordinate all youth cooperative activities within the country. Thirst Project is an international NGO that was founded to raise awareness about the global water crisis, and it started operating in the Kingdom of Eswatini in 2010 supporting the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy and Ministry of Health. In Eswatini, Thirst project has constructed over 430 water projects including hand pumps, solar pumping systems, electric pumping systems and spring protections. The organization is still growing and has identified that it would benefit from additional support to capacitate staff and strengthen internal processes that support the implementation of environmental conservation and climate change adaptation project activities.

The PCRV will support strengthening the organization's processes and capacity to implement business, environmental conservation and climate change adaptation activities, enhancing the technical skills and capacities of the staff for the implementation of those activities with their stakeholders. The PCRV will also support staff on project coordination and expanding the organization's network base and train staff on key processes for conducting research, impact assessment, project pilot testing, and data management and good reporting.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Eswatini together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
