The Internal Audit Manager Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Send Team and contribute to delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers, as well as managing the audit and compliance area. As a new position, it requires a candidate with the experience and confidence to work with existing practices while also taking ownership and driving improvements to enhance Send’s audit and compliance activities.

The Internal Auditor is responsible for managing Send’s risk, audit, and compliance functions. This role ensures that Send operates within established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while identifying and mitigating potential risks. The Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of Send’s operations and safeguarding its assets. The successful candidate will manage both internal and external audits and take ownership of the audit and compliance frameworks.

Our Funding

From 2017 to 2022, we bootstrapped our growth journey, transforming into a profitable and stable company. In November 2022, after a year of remarkable expansion in our revenue and team, we successfully obtained £9M in Series A funding to accelerate our expansion in the UK and US and our product development.

The Send Team

What You’ll Be Doing as an Internal Audit Manager

Risk Management

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Send’s risk management procedures and frameworks.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and assess potential risks facing the organisation across various areas such as operations, finance, compliance, and others.
  • Review the adequacy of Send’s processes and controls in managing the identified key risks.
  • Provide assurance to senior management and the board that any significant risks are being effectively managed.
  • Advise on improvements to risk management processes and controls.

Compliance

  • Evaluate Send’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and industry standards such as ISO27001, SOC2, and customer audits.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the compliance program, including policies, procedures, and training initiatives.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on Send’s compliance status to senior management and the board.
  • Contribute to the development of compliance initiatives and projects by reviewing methodologies and assessing the incorporation of appropriate controls.
  • Prepare Internal Audit Plans and design audit procedures with the objective of identifying any control weaknesses or deficiencies that, if not corrected, may give rise to a material risk of fraud and error.
  • Assist in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities within the organisation and notify management of the results.
  • Take the lead in responses related to information security for new sales opportunities.

The Skills and Experience Needed for the Internal Audit Manager Role:

  • Professional certifications such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), Certified ISO27001 LA, CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or CRMA (Certification in Risk Management Assurance)
  • Experience in auditing organisations, risk management, or compliance roles, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends and patterns.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in auditing software, data analysis tools, and risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple audits and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
  • Excellent planning, organising, and time management skills.
  • The role involves working UK hours.

Internal Audit Manager Interview Process: Our recruitment process for the Internal Audit Manager role will consist of three stages:

  • Stage 1: Intro call with our in-house recruiter, Liam (30 minutes) - This will cover your background, motivations, and communication, along with a chance to get to know Send and the role better.
  • Stage 2: Interview with Naynesh Patel, Head of Operations, and Sean Stephen, Operations Analyst (45-60 minutes).
  • Stage 3: Interview with Naynesh Patel, Head of Operations, and Ben Huckel, COO (45-60 minutes).
