Task Breakdown: Key Responsibilities for Success
  • Contact customers via phone and mail to secure payments for past-due loans, determine the reasons for delinquency, and obtain commitments to pay; negotiate payment in full or payment arrangements.
  • Update customers’ accounts in a computer system.
  • Adhere to established guidelines when determining appropriate collection remedies.
  • Develop and work through repayment schedules with various alternatives; explain the consequences of delinquency to customers in the attempt to obtain payments.
  • Independently resolve client calls regarding payment questions and resolve payment issues.
  • Organize future work and schedule follow-ups.
  • Record and update full and complete account information to aid in account resolution.
  • Maintain established performance metrics.
  • Comply with policies and procedures as required.
  • Perform customer service tasks as requested by the Manager.

Requirements

Essential Skills: Required Competencies

  • Have a solid 3+ years of Collections experience with no more than a 3-month gap outside of Collections or unemployment in their most recent employment.
  • Have experience working with an outsourcer and handling 120+ days of delinquent accounts.
  • Possess strong English communication skills (no less than a 9/10 score).
  • Have a strong internet connection and use a laptop during the interview.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of previous work-from-home experience.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills during the pre-screen process.
  • Confirm attendance for interviews well in advance; failure to do so will disqualify candidates from the recruitment process.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous experience in a call center is required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in collections.
  • Excellent phone and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • Ability to work with CRM and call center systems.
  • Impeccable judgment and acute attention to detail.
  • Customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Experience in customer service, debt loan collection, consumer lending, or personal finance.
  • Familiarity with underwriting loans, financial statements, and payroll is a plus.
