POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Database Administrator works within a team that is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, availability, and security of our company’s data and database systems. Together with Production Engineering, DBAs are responsible for providing critical application platform services for our SaaS customers, following governance best practices, as well as consulting and coordinating with Cority’s technology teams to meet business requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proactively monitor database management systems to prevent and mitigate performance and availability issues.
  • Perform SQL analysis and evaluate database performance to maximize efficiencies and take advantage of tuning opportunities.
  • Develop and apply automation to increase reliability while reducing toil.
  • Install, configure, and manage new database systems in public cloud.
  • Work with and provide recommendations to application development teams to appropriately restructure data for maximum efficiency.
  • Research and participate in the implementation of new database features.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of database design; troubleshoot and resolve complex, high-severity issues.
  • Through operational intelligence and automation, forecast and manage resource utilization requirements across multiple environments.
  • Follow the standards and practices of the Cority Information Security Management System and contribute to the continuous improvement of the ISMS.

  • QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting MS SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and newer, including clustering, mirroring, log shipping, and replication.
  • 3+ years of experience with Oracle Server 19c and newer.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Amazon RDS or Azure SQL Database.
  • Proven track record of applying automation and developing internal tools and processes to reduce operational toil.
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization.
  • Expertise in PowerShell or other scripting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of data management including backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, integrity checks, and index management.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL is an asset.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Profiler, DTA, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
