RER Solutions, Inc., is accepting resumes for a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Specialist to become a part of our superior workforce. The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Specialist will provide onsite and remote federal program support.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act
  • Coordinate FOIA requests and responses with management and staff across federal agencies and offices to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable law, rules, regulations, orders, policies, procedures, executive orders, case law, legal guidance, requirements, and established deadlines
  • Communicate and coordinate with members of the general public, legal entities, state/federal agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and prioritize content types and formats to ensure consistent redaction
  • Implement processes to track, manage, and report on FOIA requests and review status
  • Assist with creating an electronic reading room for public-access to office FOIA documents and information
Requirements
  • Minimum of US Citizenship required to obtain client-issued Public Trust
  • 1+ years of experience working directly with FOIA is required
  • Experience and knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations is required
  • Experience in receiving, reviewing, and analyzing new and backlogged FOIA requests is required
  • Experience redacting records with proprietary data, trade secrets, and confidential information is required
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data and complex requests
  • Ability to adapt procedures, tools, and resources to meet client needs with minimal oversight
  • Experience with federal records management activities is preferred
  • Experience with legal and regulatory compliance is preferred
  • Experience with FOIAXpress is preferred
  • Department of Energy (DOE) FOIA experience is preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of fundamental business writing
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)


EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in business, government, or a related field required
