Job Description

The Head of Performance Marketing is responsible for the strategic direction, development, and execution of marketing acquisition, partnerships, and performance/growth initiatives. This role drives our customer acquisition strategies, and oversees an eight figure budget across all channels. Channels include digital performance channels, to partnerships, to above the line brand marketing.

This role will be responsible for all acquisition investment, and for allocating budgets across all channels. This role has a wide jurisdiction, and requires a unique skillset. The right person for this role will have deep understanding on digital performance channels like Google & Facebook, understanding how to track performance through GA4 and other data analysis.

This role will also need to have experience in managing or operating the other channels with budget for acquisition (Partnerships, Brand & ATL). The Head of Performance Marketing will also oversee our CRO efforts, which will include optimisation of our acquisition funnel and activation funnel.

 

Performance & Growth Strategy

  • Refine and develop marketing and growth initiatives, overseeing all aspects of customer acquisition across channels. Ensure efficient conversion funnels and optimal customer acquisition costs.
  • Heavily contribute to defining OKRs in Performance. Deliver on individual and set departmental OKR and KPI’s as determined (generally Quarterly & Yearly).
  • Create & own quarterly and yearly models for both marketing budgets and results to ensure the most efficient spend across channels. You will be accountable to plan & recommend budgets between channels that drive the best results. (IE more on Partnerships vs Above the Line marketing).  
  • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions, track performance metrics, and measure the effectiveness of performance & growth initiatives. Implement improvements based on data analysis.

Digital Performance Channels

  • Have experience & a strong understanding of Google suite of advertising, including Google Search non-brand, Google Search brand, Performance Max, etc. 
  • Have experience & a strong understanding in Facebook ads and creative best practice.
  • Have experience & strong understanding of testing new digital channels to drive efficient performance.  This includes testing on channels including but not limited to Reddit, Teads, Outbrain, X, etc. 
  • Have experience & a strong understanding of analysing performance, optimisation, and tactics across core channels to guide the team of experts operating these channels. 

ATL & Brand

  • Brand-formance: Understand above the line campaigns from a brand, and performance perspective.
  • Have a good understanding of investments, media plans, and specific asset types across all channels including free to air TV, BVOD, Radio, etc. 
  • Understand attribution & measurement of spend, analysing data to come to conclusions and make recommendations for future campaigns. 
  • Oversee and provide recommendations for total investment, channel investment, market investment, etc. based on data analysis. 

Partnerships

  • Oversee a new role in Partnerships, guiding strategy and 7 figure investment in strategic partnerships. 
  • Have experience in both tactical and acquisition partnerships, including negotiating commercials, modelling outcomes, and thinking outside the box to create win-win partnerships for both ourselves and our partners. 

Conversion Optimisation

  • Know how to work collaboratively with the CRO Specialist in the tech team, testing to achieve higher conversion rates across acquisition & activation.
  • Oversee the testing plan and recommendations, and maximise the CRO strategy for impact at the top of the funnel and to first purchase. 

Reporting 

  • Regularly report on the progress of performance initiatives to the GM of Marketing and Marketing Team, providing insights, performance metrics, and recommendations.
  • Have a strong understanding of Google Analytics 4 and the new updates in GA, as well as channel attribution and performance. 

People Leadership

  • Support the growth and development of the team, ensuring high employee satisfaction, low turnover, and development for each member of the Performance Team. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Ensure the team is delivering on agreed strategic OKR’s. Monitor each member’s performance to their OKR’s and metrics, to identify areas for improvement and optimisation, and deliver results.

 

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • This role is highly analytical at the core with hands-on operation of core digital performance channels a requirement. You thrive on analysis & optimisation. 
  • At least 8 years in a senior management marketing leadership role, showcasing innovation in retention, design, development, and implementation. 
  • Demonstrated success in organisational management and process improvement, coupled with strong financial acumen.
  • Proven experience in building high-performing teams and working within rapid growth environments, effectively implementing change.
  • A strategic thinker and effective communicator with expertise in technological development, and a demonstrated ability to recommend and then implement and execute organisational strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in growing acquisition across channels.
