Position Purpose:   The Director, Actuarial Services will support our Actuarial Valuation team that was created in late 2022 to review booked reserves and insource key Actuarial Opinion work.  They will conduct analysis, pricing and risk assessment to estimate financial outcomes. Provide expertise and technical support in matters related to the successful and financially sounds operations of the company’s health plan businesses

Preferred experience includes: 

  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Pharmacy (specifically Medicare Part D), and ACA Marketplace products
  • Reserving experience
  • Qualified to issue NAIC statements of actuarial opinion is a plus

In this Director, Actuarial Services role, you will: 

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculate financial outcomes
  • Perform IBNR calculations and reserve performance
  • Compile documentation for Actuarial Opinions and Memorandums
  • Act as an Appointed Actuary certifying the actuarial liabilities for health plans and offering extensive support for other appointed actuaries
  • Work with State examiners to assess reserve adequacy
  • Support development of reports and other tools
  • Work with other departments to assess impact of program/policy changes.
  • Present results to Senior Management/Federal agencies

Education/Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience.
  • Previous management experience including responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of staff required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel. Teradata/SQL and PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Preferred:  Including 2+ years of reserving experience. Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Pharmacy (specifically Medicare Part D), and ACA Marketplace products.  Qualified to issue NAIC statements of actuarial opinion a plus.

License/Certification:

  • Fellow or Associate in Society of Actuaries (or equivalent international certification); Member of American Academy of Actuaries (or equivalent international membership).

*Applicants for this job have the flexibility to work remote from home anywhere in the Continental United States.*

Pay Range: $178,500.00 - $338,800.00 per year
