Job Overview:

We are looking for a Vice President of Software Engineering at LPL Financial who will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the technology delivery for the Banking and Lending solutions space. This role will require strong technical skills, execution and delivery expertise, and proven track record while fostering engineering excellence with an open innovative culture. Work with a dynamic high caliber, cross functional team including engineering, product, and design to co-create world class products. Lead the engineering effort to deliver technology solutions with high standards, pre-production environments, and development tools. Activities will also include daily oversight of development quality, partnering with solution architecture to establish patterns that the progress the teams towards scalable platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Successful candidate is expected to have a deep understanding of the technology stack used in LPL Financial Services and be able to provide technical guidance to their team members. They are expected to keep up to date with the latest technologies and best practices.

  • Lead delivery and modernization of a domain and the application landscape and re-architect for public cloud delivery based on modern microservices based architecture and delivery best practices.

  • Define technical OKRs and work with agile teams to drive capabilities, transformation, and business outcomes for the domains/platforms. Drive technology program delivery through established enterprise processes.

  • Apply modular design principles for better maintainability and reusability and adopt/follow the principle of separation of concerns.

  • Stakeholder Management: This role is responsible for managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes collaborating with other departments within the organization, as well as managing relationships with vendors, clients / advisor teams, and partners.

  • Risk Management: This role is responsible for identifying and mitigating risks associated with software development projects. They need to ensure that appropriate controls are in place to manage risks related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Strategic Planning: This role is responsible for contributing to the strategic planning process of the team. They need to be able to identify opportunities for technology to drive business growth and identify potential risks associated with emerging technologies.

  • Drive the decision in moderate to complex problems through understanding the points of view of other team members balanced with business requirements to get alignment on the solution.

  • Continuous Improvement: Candidate is responsible for driving continuous improvement in the software development process. They need to be able to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that drive greater efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience as an Engineering/Tech Lead capacity, guide the team’s development efforts towards successful project delivery and application support.

  • 8+ years in a Solution Architect capacity, designing and implementing complex systems, including developing solutions from scratch.

  • 10+ years of experience in Full- stack development designing interactive web applications, developing microservices, public cloud solutions, web services (REST APIs), Kafka messaging, and integrating with vendor APIs.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and non-technical

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to interface with customers to gather business needs and to present solutions.

  • Capable of effectively planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks utilizing resources and tools

  • Experience working with remote teams and contingent workers/SOW.

  • Experience using Agile – champion Agile Manifesto within the team.


 

Pay Range:

$154,800-$232,200/year


 

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
