Requirements

Before applying, make sure you have and/or are able to:

  • Active Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing certification/license in any state (we reimburse for cross-licensing)!
  • Knowledge of ASL preferred
  • Availability for the 2024-2025 school year
  • At least 2 years experience in a school-based setting
  • We prefer 1+ year experience providing online instruction (if not, we need you to be tech-savvy and hungry to learn!)
  • Knowledge of current instructional methodologies used in the education of deaf and hearing children
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the district’s curriculum program and reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles, and show written evidence of preparation as required
  • Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the district
  • Participate in the development of IEPs and IFSPs as needed
  • Attend all IEP meetings, and IFSP meetings for students who are deaf and hard of hearing as needed
  • Assist in providing and setting up all necessary equipment and materials to ensure an appropriate education for students with hearing loss needs
  • Employ amplification devices
  • Maintain and provide on request student data/paperwork in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Provide consultative services to school personnel and parents of students with hearing loss needs
  • Maintain efficient classroom management while teaching within the course of study from the subject area at the grade level as prescribed in state law or adopted by the district
  • Provide direction to paraprofessionals for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program program regarding their assistance to students with hearing loss needs 
  • Coordinate in-service for parents, teachers, other professionals, and students to provide information and support regarding hearing loss 
  • Desire to work with the principal, counselor, and supervisory staff in identifying and solving problems related to his/her students
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
  • Have a professional, dedicated space for working remotely
