Your missions

Position Purpose (Mission)

The Patient Financial Services (PFS) Supervisor will assist and support the PFS Manager with daily department operations, in addition to managing center-related needs and providing patient support. The PFS Supervisor is also responsible for managing teamwork queues, upholding departmental KPIs, and other managerial responsibilities directed by the Patient Financial Services Manager.

Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, Tasks (Outcomes)

Team Responsibilities:

  • Aid and support Manager of Patient Financial Services with recruiting new hires and fulfilling training needs.
  • Maintain and manage process improvement changes, payer updates, training documentation and guidance for Team; including but not limited to workflow changes, WIKI updates and policy maintenance.
  • Assist Manager of PFS with weekly coverage strategies to ensure all facility work queues are adequately managed (as needed).
  • Actively watch and maintain departmental work queues (combined market list) for STAT exams, same-day appointment add-ons, and /or patients nearing date of service deadlines with missing action; direct assigned reports to fulfil where necessary.
  • Coordinate all communication with facility teams; act as lead interface with all center staff triage to fulfill urgent needs, patient requests, payer guidance, etc.
  • Support Manager of PFS of phone queue management as necessary.
  • Provides supervision in the absence of the Manager of PFS.

Individual Management Responsibilities: 

  • Manage team timecards; works with PFS Manager to approve PTO requests based on staff coverage.
  • Onboard new employees and / or provide continuous education for current PFS Associates
  • Coach, educate, and implement PFS policies and workflows.
  • Calculating quarterly productivity.
  • Support price request delegation price.
  • Uphold excellent customer service status with goal of maintaining a low cancellation rate while increasing Time of Service collection rates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred

Prior Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience required
  • Previous team leadership experience preferred

Special Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand basic medical terminology
  • Knowledge of pre-certification process for insurance companies
  • Ability to calculate deductible and co-insurance correctly
  • Ability to communicate effectively to patients about their medical conditions and the financial aspects of their care
  • Ability to coordinate the pre-collection without losing scan and increasing cancellation rate
  • Ability to represent the Center in a professional manner when interacting with patients, guests, physicians and their staff 
  • Ability to handle service issues professionally
  • Ability to follow through with customers
  • Share relevant information with other employees
  • Volunteer to assist others when time permits 
  • Ability to type proficiently
