Product Design Managers at Amplify create functional and meaningful experiences that delight our young learners and their teachers, inside and outside of the classroom. As a member of Amplify’s design group you will partner with a diverse cross-functional product team of designers, product owners, developers, and curriculum experts, to set the vision for our print curriculum and help bring the product to market.
*This is a contract position based in Brooklyn, but can be remote.
Responsibilities of the Product Design Manager:
Lead design discovery and definition for print teacher guides, student activities, and readers
Create sketches, wireframes, prototypes, user journeys, personas, and stakeholder presentations summarizing concepts and progress
Be the main design collaborator point of contact with cross functional stakeholders from Product, Content, and Marketing
Drive design review and iteration by organizing regular touchpoints with cross functional stakeholders for input and feedback on work in progress
Construct and manage schedules for design deliverables
Actively participate in weekly design sprints, team meetings, and user testing, with daily team touch points
Oversee the design pipeline for translating from prototypes to final design production
Direct an internal team of visual and production designers, oversee their work streams and regulate touchpoints for feedback
Provide design feedback and communicate requirements to vendors
Basic Qualifications of the Product Design Manager:
5+ years of experience in publishing design or layout-driven print production
Advanced layout, typography, iconography, color theory and composition skills
Expert knowledge of Adobe Indesign, including experience with templates, master pages, paragraph and character styles, table and cell styles.
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
1-2 years’ experience managing others, formally or project-based
Strong people management skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent work experience
Strong prototyping skills
Preferred Qualifications of the Product Design Manager:
Experience with publishing industry
Experience with using Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this role is $65.
