Controls Specialist

Description

• Regionally based technician reporting to the Automation Manager
• Hourly position
• Has an assigned service truck, tools, company CC, laptop, etc.
• Is available for service calls and other service work (electrical/mechanical) as needed but priority will be automation work (PLC troubleshooting and program updates/changes)

Responsibilities:

Primary:

• Independently troubleshoot and determine a root cause analysis for various types of equipment. (Flare, VRU’s, Thermal Oxidizers, VCU’s, and Dock Safety Skids)
• Commissioning & Start Up of newly installed systems, consisting of electrical/ mechanical setup, electrical checkout, process stream introduction, control loop tuning, and operator training.
• Routine maintenance of customer systems to include loop checks, tuning and troubleshooting of operational problems, equipment repair and replacement.
• Provides customers with system operations, maintenance, modification, and upgrade recommendations

Additional:

• Support control panel checkouts and design as required
• Mechanical, instrument, and control panel check out of pipe skids at fabrication shops
• Provide post commissioning feedback.
• Provide post service feedback to Service team that provide actionable leads for Spare Parts and Modification opportunities.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

Technical:

• Understanding of the combustion, industrial heating, and thermal oxidizer processes to the extent that a root cause can be determined for failed systems
• Ability to read engineering drawings to include General Arrangements, P&IDs, Control Wiring Diagrams, and Field Wiring Diagrams
• Basic understanding of the use, programming and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controller’s (PLC’s) and Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and Variable Speed Drives (VFD)
• Experience with Combustion Systems (burners, oxidizers, boilers, etc.)
• Ability to independently use electronic measuring equipment such as multimeters, Hart communicators
• General knowledge of safety requirements in an industrial environment

• Capable of serving as Cimarron’s on-site representative during electrical and mechanical checkout of the equipment during commissioning
• Ability to utilize standard MS Office package, including Word and Excel
• Ability to write detailed and comprehensive reports after site visits
