Overview: xScion is seeking a skilled Network Architect to provide leadership, coordination, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the design, build, and support of network and security infrastructure for customer efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive design documentation, ensuring security compliance, and validating that the designed environments meet all required functionality, contingency, resiliency, and performance criteria.

 

Location: Remote (United States)

 

As a Network Architect, You Will:

  • Lead and coordinate the design of network and security infrastructure
  • Conduct in-depth technical discussions with stakeholders to understand infrastructure and requirements thoroughly.
  • Produce architectural overview diagrams for planned environments.
  • Create detailed technical drawings outlining routing, connectivity, and IP address information.
  • Develop templates for network and security hardware configurations.
  • Define security compliance, configuration backup, monitoring, and alerting parameters.
  • Develop test plans for validating functional and failover capabilities of the design/environment.
  • Direct and coordinate the construction of the production and test environments, adhering to customer architecture and design guidelines.
  • Verify configurations, connectivity, and provide troubleshooting support during testing and build processes to meet business requirements.
  • Follow customer change control processes when implementing changes on production networks.
  • Document all defects, provide resolution, and conduct functional and failover testing as per test plans.
  • Update Visio drawings, configuration templates, and Word documents for design changes or corrections.
  • Create support documentation and run books for the production environment under the guidance of the customer technical lead.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with key customer personnel supporting the production environment.
  • Confirm that monitoring and alerting are functioning as designed.
  • Ensure the environment meets functional, contingency, resiliency, and performance requirements through validation.
  • Record all test results as part of the testing procedure.


To Be Successful, You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience as a Network Architect or a similar role
  • Proven experience in network and security infrastructure design, implementation, and best practices
  • Proficiency in creating detailed technical documentation and architectural drawings
  • Experience in network hardware configuration and management
  • Ability to lead and coordinate complex technical projects
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications in networking and security (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP)
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with change control processes and best practices
