This position will be part of the Robotic Systems Development (RSD) team within the Central Technology Office (CTO). This position is located in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a hybrid position requiring three days in-office and two days optional to work from home.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $65,000 - $140,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications:
Demonstrate the ability to read a patent disclosure quickly and understand the technical nuances which may potentially distinguish it from patents/non-literature patents.
Perform comprehensive searches to ensure the most relevant patents/non-literature patents are located and provide a logical and complete search history.
Prepare written opinions applying the most relevant patents/non-literature patents to the disclosure.
Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications.
Maintain consistent timeliness and superior quality of deliverables.
Participate in patent portfolio analysis and risk assessment of both internal portfolios and third-party portfolios including assessment of areas of focus, management of outside vendors and communications to leadership of status and recommendations.
Coordinate, develop and improve IP processes (e.g., patent process), methodologies (e.g., invention assessment).
Coordinate and develop IP training programs across different geographies, IP domains (patents, TMs, Design, etc.), functions and platforms.
Coordinate with regional/local IPM teams and global Business-IP StratOps in harvesting and review of Invention Disclosures to assure IP protection in alignment with Line of Business IP Strategy
3+ years' experience in innovation or R&D department in industry, research institute, law firm or management consulting
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Hands-on experience in patent matters and/or related patent search as well as related analysis tools
Expertise in the field of intralogistics mechatronics or software is a plus
Strong entrepreneurial spirit in combination with business strategic thinking
Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Experience in planning, execution and moderation of innovation workshops and ideation sessions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Open minded, human-centered attitude and social competence
Experience in application of creative & team tools
Willingness to work with international teams
International and Domestic travel required
Ability to juggle many priorities and competing demands
