Job Title:  Director of Rail Commodities Forecasting

Role Overview:

Marmon Rail will be hiring a Director of Rail Commodities Forecasting who will collaborate with Business Development and be responsible for leading the company's forecasting and strategic initiatives in the rail industry in North America. This position is crucial in predicting market trends and identifying innovative opportunities, across all Marmon Rail business units, to accelerate Marmon Rail's growth. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the commodities market and exceptional analytical skills specifically for the North American market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and implementation of innovative rail traffic forecasting models and market analysis to accurately predict trends and shifts in the rail transport of commodities market across North America.
  • Develop innovative ideas and business development approach on the direction of the commodities growth with Marmon rail business units to accelerate their growth
  • Drive strategic business development initiatives, identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities for growth and expansion of Marmon Rail Businesses in the US and Canada.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners to enhance business opportunities and collaboration across all Marmon Rail Business Units.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate forecasting insights and business development strategies into broader company objectives and operations.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements that can impact the North American rail transport of commodities markets and business operations.
  • Provide thought leadership and expert insights on market trends, contributing to the company's position as an industry leader.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts and business development professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, with preference for chemical engineering degree and a strong background in business and economics.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the commodities market, focusing on market forecasting and business development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful forecasting models and business strategies.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex market data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep knowledge of the regulatory and economic environment affecting the rail transport of commodities within the market in North America.

Reporting:

  • The candidate will report to Senior VP of Innovation and Strategy for Marmon Rail and Crane Services
