About this Role 
Wealthfront is looking for a Communications Manager to support our consumer and corporate communications efforts and help increase awareness of Wealthfront and our product suite.

Do you love staying up to date on financial news? Do you have a knack for sourcing media contacts and drafting tailored pitches? Do you want to work at a company that helps people understand financial concepts and grow their wealth? Then we want to hear from you! 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, media savvy, self-starter with experience placing stories and building reporter relationships. You will report directly to Elly Stolnitz, Director of Consumer Communications, and work closely with Kate Wauck, Wealthfront’s Chief Communications Officer. You will also collaborate with our editorial, social media, and product marketing teams.

About the Communications team 
The Communications team drives buzz and deepens brand affinity via owned and earned channels. We keep Wealthfront top of mind among an audience that ranges from clients to the press. We’re responsible for driving positive conversation and buzz about Wealthfront via media relations, social media, and editorial content.

We’re a remote-friendly team and open to candidates across the US.

This role will involve:
  • Building relationships with personal finance and investing reporters and proactively communicating the Wealthfront story.
  • Developing creative and timely pitches to secure coverage highlighting Wealthfront’s product suite.
  • Working cross functionally with product marketing teams to support product announcements throughout the year.
  • Staying on top of money and investing trends and working with spokespeople to create quick-turn media commentary.
  • Working closely with the data science and consumer insights teams to build and place stories that highlight Wealthfront’s data and show interesting trends among our clients. 
  • Monitoring the media landscape and recommending new media opportunities.

  • Responsibilities
  • Build your own network of personal finance and investing reporters, podcast hosts, and newsletter writers, and write creative pitches to keep them engaged with Wealthfront.
  • Develop interesting story angles and secure articles that show trends among our clients and showcase our data.
  • Develop pitches, press releases, briefings, media lists, and other materials to support product and PR launches. 
  • Keep the team up to speed on industry related news and flag opportunities to insert Wealthfront into the conversation.
  • Field inbound media requests and vet accordingly. 
  • Coordinate communications efforts and materials with our compliance team.

  • Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience working in fast-paced communications teams. 
  • Deep knowledge of the overall media landscape and experience placing stories in top-tier publications.
  • Experience working with and securing media opportunities for executive level spokespeople.
  • Strong communicator with a determination to find new ways to tell stories and reach new audiences.
  • Strong self-starter and problem solver.
  • Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Curiosity and desire to learn more about both the fintech and financial services industries. Background in fintech is a huge plus, but not a requirement.
  • Estimated annual salary range: $130,000 - $160,000 USD plus equity and discretionary bonus.
