The Head of External Sales & Customer Engagement role will engage key stakeholders in the Federal Government to ensure Exelan Pharmaceuticals, Inc is positioned in the market to serve customer needs. The position will be remote-based and reports to the President and Head of Operations – Exelan Pharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement customer engagement strategy across the entire Federal Healthcare landscape, such as VA, Department of Defense (DoD), Indian Health Services (HIS), and BoP.     

    • Identify each major procurement facility for Federal Healthcare procurement, including the seven (7) main CMOPs for the VA.

    • Ensure there is a clear communication chain laid out for each of those facilities including contact lists for buyers.

    • Create an engagement plan with proper frequency for each procurement team, working to establish as much in-person contact as possible.

    • Engage the broader Exelan organization and Cipla organization as needed to help strengthen those relationships with in-person visits or to provide insights and data our buyers are looking for.

    • Ensure all corporate external engagement policies are followed and documented for Exelan.
       

  1. Establish relationships with key wholesalers to ensure there is a clear channel of communication on resolving issues for federal customers.

  • Contact and resolution process development and maintenance.

  • Partner with wholesaler to articulate and resolve any issues blocking our customers from ordering product in the wholesaler portals, ensuring corrective actions are taken, and required escalation are made to manage relationships and customer experience.
     

  1. Organize feedback and calls to action as appropriate across Exelan and Cipla North America.

  • Ensure customer feedback is shared with the appropriate internal stakeholders within Exelan and Cipla related to supply challenges and other issues our customers are having and in compliance with rules and regulations.

  • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure timely exchange of data is shared ( i.e., customers to us and vice versa)

  • Share insights with relevant stakeholders on challenges the Federal Government is having in procurement in areas beyond our portfolio.           
     

  1. Ensure compliance requirements are understood, documented, and followed in every aspect of our engagement
     

  2. Develop and distribute content for communications and announcements to key customers and stakeholders, such as launch announcements, marketing materials, product update information.
     

  3. Developing and facilitating Exelan’s proprietary relationships through in-person visits to procurement offices, attendance at conferences and key events supporting the Exelan org position in industry. 
     

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing, or finance

  • 10+ years of corporate experience, with relevant experience and knowledge in sales and healthcare customer engagement

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Demonstrated approach through engaging various stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem and understanding of key decision makers.

  • Exceptional people management skills to coordinate with all stakeholders

  • This is a field-based role requiring travel to various government facilities, interested candidates should plan for about 50%-70% of their time being travel related
