Senior Systems Administrator

Remote work environment, but occasional travel to the Cineplex head office at 1303 Yonge Street for meetings would be beneficial.

Overview: The Senior Systems Administrator will focus on managing both our on-premises infrastructure and our Microsoft Azure cloud services. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of our systems, supporting our day-to-day business operations. Additionally, this role requires a keen attention to monitoring our environments to proactively address and mitigate potential issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and Troubleshooting: Provide third-level support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues, including Netscalers, CyberArk, Citrix, and VMWare environments. Troubleshoot complex issues escalated from second-level support.
• Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance using various tools. Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, or network problems. Suggest improvements to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Security Management: Lead the implementation of IT security strategies, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, CyberArk for privileged access management, and patch management to protect data and infrastructure. Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures. Generate regular reports on system status, performance metrics, and improvement plans.
• Automation and Scripting: Utilize scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI, CoPilot Studio) to automate routine tasks, increasing efficiency and reducing human error.
• Project Leadership: Lead IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and the deployment of new technologies and services. 
• Cloud Services Administration: Manage Azure cloud services, including but not limited to VMs, Azure Active Directory, Azure Storage, and other relevant services. Ensure efficient operation and cost-effectiveness of cloud resources.
• Backup and Recovery: Administer and manage Commvault for both on-premises and cloud-based backup solutions. Ensure robust disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Technology Evaluation: Design, prepare, and conduct new technology evaluations to determine infrastructure solutions based on business requirements. Make recommendations for improving infrastructure, technology, operational capability, reliability, and performance.

Education and Certification:

• University / College education in computer science or relevant work experience
• Commvault Certified Engineer or Certified Systems Engineer
• Relevant certifications in Azure, Netscalers, CyberArk, Citrix, VMWare, and ITIL are highly desirable

Experience:

• At least 7 years of experience administering backup infrastructure both on-premise and in cloud (ideally with Commvault)
• At least 4 years experience working with Cloud Storage as a backup repository
• At least 4 years of backup design and configuration
• At least 4 years of disaster recovery / business continuity experience
• At least 4 years of experience with monitoring and automation
• At least 4 years of experience with PowerShell and JSON
• At least 4 years of experience with Netscalers, CyberArk, Citrix, and VMWare

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be proactive and possess strong interpersonal, customer service, communication, and organizational skills
• Must possess excellent written and verbal presentation skills
• Must be able to operate in a busy environment and manage multiple projects and changes with shifting priorities
• Must possess strong design and documentation skills
• Must be able to be on call on a rotational basis
• Good knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and best practices (e.g., ITIL)
• Must have strong project management skills
• Must have experience recommending and implementing new solutions
