What’s the role?

We are seeking a skilled Senior Integration Engineer to join our dynamic IT Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering internal customer impact through bridging the gaps between various software applications, systems, and technologies. This role is essential to enable a seamless flow of information across various enterprise workflows and systems, ensuring cloud, SaaS, and on-prem systems can communicate and work together seamlessly. 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Engineering, Internal IT. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Building strong relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their specific integration needs and broader tooling and workflow goals.

• Analyzing existing systems and data flows to design customized integration strategies.

• Developing and implementing reliable, scalable integration solutions utilizing APIs, middleware, ETL processes, and cloud technologies.

• Supporting, maintaining and evolving integration solutions to ensure optimal performance.

• Navigating a landscape of ever-evolving systems protocols, standards, and feature changes while maintaining data consistency and integrity across platforms.

• Creating and maintaining clear technical proposals and documentation.

• Ensuring production readiness and ongoing quality and reliability of your work by utilizing a broad range of testing and observability solutions.

• Participating in an on-call rotation.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 3+ years of experience in software integration or a similar role.

• Proficiency in programming languages (Java, Python, PHP, etc.).

• Experience and understanding of databases, data structures, and data modeling (SQL, XML).

• Experience with integration technologies (APIs, middleware, ETL tools).

• Knowledge of network protocols, security, and cloud computing concepts.

• Experience utilizing cloud deployment and infrastructure, container orchestration technologies  e.g. Terraform, Chef, Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless execution environments.

• Experience with testing frameworks, developing and utilizing manual and automated testing, and CI/CD. 

• Demonstrated ability in breaking down open-ended problems into clear solutions, and mapping those into smaller deliverables and milestones.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, and translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions.

• A track record in supporting the growth of peers and the team through mentorship, delegation, pairing, and sponsorship.
