Position Summary
Performs comprehensive financial assistance review and processing for post service applications. Provides follow up and assistance to the financial counseling team as needed. Will review and apply discounts, adjustments and patient registration updates in the EPIC system. Establishes appropriate budget plans for patients upon request. Collects payments for both pre service and services rendered when appropriate. Interacts routinely with clinical/technical staff and department personnel. Assisting incoming calls with the Financial Counselor and Patient Services area. Works special projects as assigned by management as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs services by working with patients and appropriate entities in assisting with post service financial assistance applications.
  • Establishes appropriate budget plans for patients upon request.
  • Validates charges for specific services and makes appropriate changes as needed.
  • Reviews Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for rejections, partial payments and patient responsibility amounts.
  • Supports Financial Counselors and Patient Services Unit in answering billing and collection questions, as needed.
  • Performs other duties and urgent requests as assigned.

Working Conditions

This is a remote position with occasional monthly meetings in office.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of computers, general office equipment, telephone console, medical terminology, collection techniques and communication skills that involve dealing with confidential information.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Two to three years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.

Salary Range
$17.00 - $24.66 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
