Cash Application Specialist aims to accurately and efficiently process and code incoming payments, maintain proper documentation, improve process efficiency, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The below is not all inclusive but covers the main responsibilities.

The position performs the following which will evolve as system implementations are completed:

  • Accurately and efficiently apply cash payments to open accounts receivable balances.
  • Code Cash, identify the account and type of payment the cash receipt is to be applied.
  • Manage various types of payments, lockboxes, E-bills, and Wires/ACH’s.
  • Ensure proper documentation is available needed to support payment processing.
  • Follow-up with external clients as needed to gather support and clarify payment application.
  • Work internally with the Billing Team, Treasury, Account Managers, and the General Ledger team.
  • Ability to work within multiple AR systems understanding what cash belongs to each.
  • Confirm status of a check, outstanding or paid as requested and provide copies as needed.
  • Support audit requests as needed.
  • Ability to adapt in an environment that is evolving and transforming.

Skills:

  • Strong math skills – one payment may be split among several invoices.
  • Detail oriented – understanding the support and applying it as directed to the correct invoice, period, date.
  • Critical thinking – ability to reason through requests.
  • Problem solving – tacking new items that involve, walking backwards through a process or using current knowledge in a new way to resolve the request.
  • Proficient in Excel – basic skills, filtering, sorting, and creating basic formulas.
  • Professional judgement – when to question, ask a question or make the decision.
  • Good communication skills.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred. 
  • Minimum of 1 year in accounts receivable and/or cash applications highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to broader team objectives.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time amid multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

FLSA Status: Hourly/Non Exempt

Hourly Range: $16.68 - $26.06/hour
