We're seeking a Documentation & Coding Analyst to join our team! In this role, you will help develop and implement the education program aimed at enhancing documentation and coding practices across the organization. This role requires a current certification in coding and at least 3 years of experience in coding.

This position is open to remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

In this role, you'll promote documentation accuracy by auditing and updating training tools for providers, clinical staff, coders and billing specialists.

The Documentation and Coding Analyst is a liaison between the providers, clinical staff and coders, providing updated and new material as it arises and helps answer documentation and coding questions.

Education:

Preferred: Associate's Degree in Health Information Management

Experience:

Required: At least 3 years of coding experience.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Required: Coding certification through AHIMA: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIT), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and HCPCS codes and modifiers.
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex coding in various specialties.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • Utilize EPIC in an efficient manner to complete various tasks within the work queues, investigate billing issues, and the capability of maneuvering through the medical record to find all required documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand government and non-governmental policies and procedures and apply guidelines.
