Job Description

Note: This is a 12months fixed term contract role working remotely.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, the role is to assist with driving profitable growth through the provision of commercial recommendations to bids. Providing guidance to Sales teams to balance risk with reward to drive an increasing win-rate of bids through high quality proposals for contract renewals and new business.

Key Duties:-

  • Ownership and construction of financial bid models as required, ensuring correct treatment for revenue recognition (IFRS15) and costs incurred, and adequate contingency provision.  Completion of the associated pricing schedule for bid submission.
  • Produce evaluation analysis on bid submissions, along with competitor analysis to assist with the qualification of an opportunity. Make pricing recommendations based on market data and internal analysis of win/loss data.
  • Attend governance sign-on and sign-off calls, ensuring bids have gone through the required governance and compliance and they are costed and priced accurately. Liaise with operational finance team to comply with audit and implement recommendations.
  • Review, mark-up and advise on financial schedules. Liaise with the legal team in assessing and reporting on the commercial risk associated with new business opportunities and escalating where financial terms fall outside those deemed acceptable to NEC.
  • Maintain & Support Cost Revenue Estimation Model (CREM) template, including maintenance and updating of day rates and standard models for business areas
  • Deal with bid escalations and balancing different stakeholder (Product, Delivery, Sales, Finance) perspectives to agree a strategy and appropriate risk management approach.
  • When required, represent Finance to support client dialogue meetings
  • Ensure effective financial handover of new business wins to operational finance teams and project delivery teams including initial sign-off and periodic review of Contract Control models
  • Identify and work on ad hoc project that will benefit the business and will improve the speed and efficiency of the bid cycle.
  • Investment appraisal and modelling of pro-forma P&Ls and Cash Flows for various product investments.  This includes scenario modelling to calculate the ROI and payback periods, aligning with key stakeholders on inputs and summarising the financial outputs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong academic background
    We will consider candidates who are qualified by experience or part qualified in addition to (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) qualified. 
  • Advanced user of Excel, along with use of standard M365 suite and Teams
  • Experience of bid modelling and contract costing within a software based business
  • An understanding of the underlying framework of financial reporting standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly, including explanation of complicated finance processes to non-finance colleagues 
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and monitor workload in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels in an effective manner
