About the Role

SaaS Academy is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Accountant to become an integral part of our world-class Finance Team. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for managing revenue-related processes, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and contributing to the overall financial success of the organization. Your meticulous attention to detail and analytical skills will play a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the company's financial objectives. This team member will be crucial in helping buy back time for our Finance and Operations teams and allowing them to better serve internal stakeholders.

Here are the primary components of our Senior Accountant role:

Responsibilities & Success Metrics

1. Revenue & Expense Reporting: Within two weeks, this team member will be able to ensure accurate and timely revenue booking in Xero and maintain detailed revenue sub-ledgers. Within three months, they will design and implement an automated process to provide analysis of monthly recurring revenue (MRR) variances which identifies and quantifies all drivers of MRR movement from prior month and compares against both prior month and forecasted results. This team member will proactively seek opportunities to provide valuable insight to internal clients (revenue and teams and senior leaders) on this data.
   • Success Metric/KPI: Daily revenue booking completed accurately, weekly detail reviews conducted, and revenue metrics actively tracked.
2. Client Billing Requests: Address and resolve all client billing requests within 1 business day, coordinating with revenue teams, clients, and sales teams. They will also be able to establish, document, and follow systems to ensure a consistent approach to handling all requests.
   • Success Metric/KPI: All client billing requests handled within 1 business day, with uniform processes followed and documented.
3. Accounts Receivable/Payable Management: Maintain a Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) of 3 days, informing revenue teams weekly of account standing. Manage the accounts payable processes and enhance the overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
   • Success Metric/KPI:
     • DSO reduced to and maintained at 3 days, with weekly updates provided to revenue teams.
     • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

Experience and Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public and private sector
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and to build relationships across departments
• Self-starter
• Problem-solver
• Ability to understand the big picture and also dive into small details,
• High level of ownership, organization, and follow-through

Preferred

• CPA License
• Experience working in a start-up environment
• Experience with accounting for SaaS or other recurring revenue models
• Experience with Xero and Maxio
• Experience building reports in Maxio
