Your missions

The Chemical Sector Leader is responsible for developing and implementing a go-to-market strategy to accelerate business growth for Montrose environmental services in the chemical sector. Through a deep understanding of client needs and the environmental challenges facing our clients, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Montrose team across business verticals to deliver solutions for select customers in the sector.

This position is remote with preference for locations with a high density of chemical companies.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

The following is a partial list of the anticipated tasks and responsibilities for the Chemical Sector Leader:

  • Complete a market assessment and determine the Total Addressable Market (TAM), current market share, competitor analysis, discover unmet needs, and evaluate current CX with Montrose clients to articulate holistic Montrose solutions to common challenges faced by the chemical sector.

  • Develop an Ideal Client Profile (ICP) in the chemical sector so that we have a clear understanding of the clients that would align with Montrose’s core capabilities.

  • Identify new accounts and manage existing client relationships to increase Montrose opportunities within the sector.

  • Complete a gap analysis on Montrose service offerings. Leverage knowledge and experience to help recommend acquisition targets to our M&A Group to grow chemical sector-related revenue and make introductions where possible.

  • Conduct senior-level meetings with current clients and prospects to increase opportunities across pan-Montrose verticals, irrespective of geographies and current P&Ls.

  • Act as Key Client Leader (KCL) for a minimum of 2 major accounts as part of Montrose’s formal Key Client Program (KCP). Participate in our formal account management program (externally facilitated) to apply a structured approach to Key Client account management.

  • Internally coordinate with Operations and Sales to mentor and coach team members working in the sector to promote personal development and a better understanding of the overall market and opportunities.

  • Coordinate with Marketing, Operations, and other SMEs to develop thought leadership content (e.g., blogs, LinkedIn posts, newsletters, etc.) to promote Montrose’s standing within the industry.

  • Prepare monthly reports with data analysis from the sector’s performance to include sales pipeline, client activities, leads, events, etc.

  • Conduct semi-annual business reviews for identified major accounts and act as executive sponsor supporting team members working on day-to-day client activities.

  • Deliver quarterly business review summaries for the C-Suite and Senior Operations leadership teams to provide VOC, progress, opportunities, etc.

  • Identify and attend industry relevant conferences and trade shows to represent Montrose. Act as an event champion for major chemical events and coordinate with pan-Montrose team members.

  • Manage existing contracts processes for renewals and obtain new customer MSAs within the sector.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to the chemical sector.

  • Other duties as assigned.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Overnight travel (approximately 25-40%) to attend conferences and external industry events, as well as attend internal Strategy, Marketing, and Operations meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering or related field from an accredited program. Previous sales experience and an advanced degree is desired, but not required.

  • Minimum 10 years of related experience with a broad understanding of the chemical sector including historical and emerging issues faced by the chemical sector.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate Montrose's value proposition to new and existing clients with an overall desire to cross-sell other Montrose services.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Familiarity with relevant federal regulations and policies.
