The Virtual Production Assistant (VPA) is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep, of the VPS system., the scheduling of classes, faculty, and student use as well as production organization of research projects, and client and student productions.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Master Schedule for the VPS that includes academic, professional, and research purposes
  • Maintain the various VPS systems
  • Keep current with technical innovations that relate to virtual, volumetric, and XR production
  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement of Studio V1
  • Represent Full Sail and the VPS in public relations and marketing ventures
  • Teach the technology being used in VPS in courses, labs, and seminars with an interest in virtual production
  • Asist with the research, develop, and integrate cross-over technologies that might enhance virtual production.
  • Administer directives from the Studio V1 Manager to interns and work study students as well as project related assigned staff.
  • May oversee Federal Work Study (FWS) and other studio staff
  • Represent Full Sail in partnerships and other outward facing ventures
  • Supervise Student production teams using the VPS for academic purposes

Competencies:

  • A working familiarity with 3D software such as Maya, Blender, and Unreal.
  • A working familiarity with film and video production workflows.
  • Good communication and presenter skills.
  • A familiarity with system integration that includes signal flow and file management.
  • The ability to interact with students, faculty and staff on a professional level 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years related and verifiable work experience or related industry experience in film production, game art, and/or virtual production.
  • Must have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a field that relates to virtual production such as Film, Digital Cinematography, Game Art, Game Design, or Computer Animation.
  • Experience in information technology (IT), information management technology or computer science is preferred, but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Unreal Fellowship training is preferred but not required

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Should be iOS and PC capable and have an above average knowledge of computer systems
  • Should have experience with some or all the following software:
    • Unreal game engine software
    • 3D Environment creation and preparation
    • Animation skills using Maya or Blender
    • Skilled with Adobe Creative Cloud software

OR

  • Experience with Film production workflows
    • Grip and Lighting
    • Camera operation
    • Post-Production

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands: Work is performed in a recording studio, project studio, computer lab environment, or live event production facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with students, instructors, and support staff, and interact appropriately with computer systems, and audio, video, and lighting production equipment as necessary.  May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds. Should be used to “production level” physical work that may include lifting of equipment such a slighting, camera and grip gear.
