Your missions

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Alternative Energy Coordinator to provide project and administrative support to the Alternative Energy Department and Atautchikun’s leadership. The ideal candidate is working toward their college degree in a field related to energy efficiency, alternative energy, project management, or rural development and has a passion for sustainability with a strong background in energy management, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Hiring for this position is contingent on grant funding.

  • Research and Identification
    • Stay informed about relevant policies, regulations, trends, and incentives related to alternative energy. Provide a variety of project, research, and program support functions to the department.
  • Program Support
    • Provides project management support for alternative energy projects along with the Atautchikun team and in collaboration with project partners.
    • Follow up on Request for Proposals (RFP) with candidates from start to finish of the proposal process.
    • Assist with formation of a wide variety of business documents including letters of support, memorandums of understanding, RFPs, etc.
    • Assist with coordination and participation in alternative energy conferences and related events.
    • Follow up with team members to ensure that deliverables are made.
  • Document Development
    • Collaborate with program managers, finance, and other relevant stakeholders to gather information necessary for department function.
    • Write clear, concise, and persuasive communication that aligns with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Compliance
    • Ensure that grant files comply with the guidelines and regulations set by funding agencies.
    • Work closely with internal team to gather data and documentation required for compliance.
    • Works with Atautchikun Grant Administrator to maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and results.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Communicate effectively to address inquiries and provide additional information as needed.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, government agencies, and local communities to foster support and participation in renewable energy initiatives.
  • Continuous Learning
    • Stay informed about changes in the alternative energy and energy efficiency landscape and regional best practices.
    • Seek professional development opportunities to enhance technical writing skills, project management, alternative energy engineering capabilities, etc.
  • Resource Assessment
    • Conduct or assist in site evaluations and feasibility studies to assess the potential for renewable energy generation in specific locations.
    • Analyze data and make recommendations for project implementation.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage project budgets, secure funding opportunities, and ensure cost-effective implementation of renewable energy projects.
    • Monitor expenditures and track financial performance against project goals.
  • Education and Outreach
    • Assist in the development of educational materials, conduct outreach activities, and engage with the public to raise awareness about the benefits of alternative energy and promote energy efficiency measures.
  • Technical Support
    • Provide technical expertise and support for the design, installation, and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
    • Collaborate with engineers and technical specialists to ensure project success.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Monitor the performance of renewable energy systems, collect and analyze data on energy production, efficiency, and environmental impact.
    • Identify areas for optimization and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Reporting
    • Prepare or assist in the development of regular progress reports, presentations, and other communications materials to update stakeholders on project status, achievements, and challenges.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department’s success may also be assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree desired or currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution with plans to obtain a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Previous administrative experience required.
  • Interest in alternative energy, engineering, technical writing, rural development, or a related career path is preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be tech-savvy and be able to operate proficiently on a computer.
  • Must be organized and be able to communicate effectively and professionally; this includes friendly customer service to all internal & external customers.
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, policies, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, financial management, and reporting.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier (clear three-year record with no DUI’s in the past five years).

Working Environment

Indoors Environmentally controlled; requires most work to be done inside. There may be times when work outside may be required.

Noise level The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere. This position is seated in a cubicle workstation. The employee must be able to focus on activities taking place around them.

Attention to Detail Proposal management involves intricate details, from budget breakdowns to project descriptions. A meticulous eye ensures accuracy and consistency throughout the duration of a project.

Practical Thinking The employee needs to think practically. They must assess the feasibility of proposed projects, considering logistics, resources, and potential impact.

Effective Communication Clear communication extending beyond writing. The employee is required to collaborate with team members, shareholders, and funders. Strong interpersonal skills are valuable.
