Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director – Claims!

About The Role

In this role, you will have responsibility for Supplemental Health (Voluntary, Limited Benefit Med/ MEC) Claims Operations, Clinical and Vocational support, and ADA Stay at Work and Return to Work Operations.

What You Will Do

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Supplemental Health claims teams, including review and sign-off of claims, coordination of quality and training programs, collaborating with cross functional/ shared service support partners, and designing operational and change management plans for initiatives to improve the customer experience.
  • Work with appropriate business areas to integrate the supplemental health claims process into other internal claim processes and with external data sources, to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the clinical and vocational teams with direct reports consisting of managers, team leads, and/or individual contributors such as nurse consultants and vocational rehab consultants.
  • Coordinate quality and training programs while using data and operational excellence to ensure efficiency.
  • Maintain responsibility for necessary external vendor partners that support these functions.
  • Other responsibilities including, developing leaders and individual contributors, staffing and hiring processes, collaborating closely with partners in sales and account management, planning and following a budget, and providing strategic guidance to the departments that contribute to larger divisional priorities.

Compensation

Salary Range: $110,300 – $183,800 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your Experience And Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and business experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant claims, customer service and/or clinical experience required.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role required.
  • Knowledge of ERISA requirements and state and federal requirements for group benefits required.
  • Experience designing dashboards and analyzing data to drive efficiency and quality preferred.
  • Clinical experience and credentials such as LPN, RN, FNP, MD highly preferred.
  • Experience with voluntary benefits strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communicator (verbal/written).
  • Adept judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient with data analysis and problem solving.
  • Well-versed in risk management.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and helping teams navigate change.
