Description

“Please note this role is full-time and located in Exmouth, Western Australia and relocation is expected if you are not currently a local resident.”

We are Northrop Grumman Australia. Part of an 85,000 strong global Defence organisation, over 800 talented employees in Australia are leveraging our global resources to deliver a superior Australian Defence capability. As we build our business and our capabilities, we are also building a reputation as a great place to work. Help us define what is possible for our nation, and for your career.

This is an exciting time to join our expanding team spearheading the design, supply, installation and commissioning of our cutting-edge Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) facility, strategically located near the picturesque town of Exmouth, Western Australia

DARC is a global network of three next-generation ground sensors, based in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Together, they will deliver a unique 24/7 all-weather capability, tracking objects in geosynchronous orbit - a testament to Northrop Grumman’s commitment to enhancing security and safety in deep space on a global scale.

Your Role
As the Operations and Maintenance Manager, your primary responsibilities include functional management of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team, contractual oversight of suppliers and subcontractors, and hands-on maintenance of plant and equipment. Your leadership will extend beyond routine maintenance to potentially encompass additional services as requested, ensuring comprehensive oversight and seamless operation of our facilities.

Your role is central to both onsite and remote operations, requiring you to provide leadership support across all levels of the team. You will also be responsible for maintaining robust security measures and cultivating strong relationships with local stakeholders. Effective communication and engagement with various business levels, including international stakeholders, are essential in this role.

With a deep understanding of Power Plant and Facility Operations and Maintenance, you will navigate the complexities of a high-security, defence-oriented environment. Your leadership and managerial skills are crucial in driving operational efficiency and fostering collaborative success within the team.

About You
You are a seasoned Operations and Maintenance Manager, armed with a Bachelor of Engineering and a robust background in Facility Operations and Maintenance. Your experience spans proactive management of the O&M scope, ensuring stability of facilities and supporting the delivery of the DARC capability. You excel in hands-on execution of planned maintenance tasks and servicing, particularly with diesel power generators and electrical systems. Your expertise doesn't stop there; you have a sharp eye for identifying potential risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies. When unplanned issues arise, you are quick to resolve them, and you consistently seek out opportunities for O&M improvements.

Your strong stakeholder engagement skills have been honed through extensive interaction within a matrixed environment and with external partners, making you an invaluable leader. You are not just about maintenance; you are about leading your team to ensure operational excellence and security, especially in managing classified projects. Ready to report directly to the Programme Manager, you are eager to apply your strategic thinking and hands-on skills to navigate the complex challenges of this role, enhancing operational efficiencies and fostering durable professional relationships.

By joining Northrop Grumman, you are not just taking a job; you are becoming part of a landmark project that is defining new frontiers in aerospace, committed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical excellence.

This exciting opportunity will require relocation to Exmouth, Western Australia and come with comprehensive relocation assistance and attractive remote working allowances to support your transition.
