Your missions

The Quality Engineer applies Quality Engineering tools & methods to ensure that Delta’s products are designed, manufactured, and delivered to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations. This role is the voice of quality within our product development process and is responsible for ensuring the proper design, development, and validation of new products while also supporting continuous improvement and maintenance initiatives across our validation labs, manufacturing, and supply base. This is an opportunity to join our team in a full-time, position that is anticipated to last 12-24 months, and includes standard benefits.   

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Lead Quality activities for new product development projects through the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning tools such as  Requirements Decomposition, D/PFMEA, Phased Test Plan Development, PPAP, Process Capability Analysis, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, 8D and Structured Problem solving.
  • Support  the development and the execution of comprehensive product test plans that minimize development risk and maximize consumer satisfaction with our products
  • Support the development, qualification, and implementation of inspection, test, and measuring equipment
  • Support and/or lead Manufacturability and Technical Readiness Design reviews
  • Communicate significant issues and findings; Recommend design and process improvements to project teams and quality leadership as needed
  • Review, create, and disposition supplier PPAP submissions into SAP records; Support the resolution of supplier quality related issues;
  • Apply appropriate statistical methods and tools to evaluate, analyze, test, measurement, and performance data to ensure product, process, and equipment capability.
  • Perform supplier quality assurance and development activities including supplier audits and process inspections; Provide summary of findings reports; Develop issues closure plans; Follow-up on appropriate corrective actions, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Maintain familiarity with and apply appropriate company procedures, specifications, standards, and industry codes
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently; Prepare and present technical reports to project team members and leadership regarding design and process risks and required mitigation plans.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes; finishing, plating, casting, forging, injection molding, extruding…etc
  • Works as a core team member to the Finishing Center of Excellence

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a similar technical field required with 5+ years of related Quality Engineering, Product Development  or manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of experience finishing and plating preferred
  • Knowledge in and application of GD&T and print / product designs (be able to interpret product designs / prints) required
  • Experience developing and executing validation test plans based on product design risk and Failure Mode Analysis
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as engineering notices, material requirements planning (MRP), and inventory management systems desired
  • Knowledge of Quality tools and structured problem solving methods such as 8D, 5-Why, A3, DMAIC.. etc.
  • DFMEA, PFMEA, Product & Process Mapping
  • Proficiency with various computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office;  (SAP experience preferred)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and team collaboration skills
  • Supplier auditing experience desired
  • ISO9001 & 16949 audit knowledge desired
  • Plumbing ISO17025 audit knowledge desired
