Account Executive

Summary:

The Marin Independent Journal is seeking an Account Executive to join the team! We offer a base salary with uncapped commission, bonus opportunities, and open territory selling – you control your income! If you are passionate about cultivating relationships with clients, with an emphasis on new business development, and can achieve personal and team sales goals, we want to talk with you.

Work is based out of our San Rafael office. Position can be remote as long as you are based within the Bay Area.

What you will do:

• Develop effective advertising programs to meet advertisers’ marketing objectives with a combination of both print and digital advertising

• Heavy prospecting and developing sales plans, particularly for digital opportunities, for new and current clients

• Assess sales opportunities, develop customer digital programs and create proposals that demonstrate value

• Achieve sales goals and objectives; performance indicators include revenue, active accounts, contract performance and share of market

• Sales administration including aging and flash reports; accurate processing of ad orders

• Creating and presenting print and digital campaigns

What you will bring:

• 1-3 years of marketing sales experience 

• Knowledge of internet and mobile advertising with a passion for consultative selling skills and the ability to close sales

• Computer skills required, with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Detail oriented with excellent time management skills while providing excellent customer service

• Bachelor's Degree in related course of study preferred

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

The annual salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 plus commission and cell phone reimbursement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
