First Look: Editor-In-Chief, BIKE
The Arena Group is looking for an experienced, dynamic, passionate and creative Editor-In-Chief for BIKE. This individual will be tasked with the exciting venture of relaunching the BIKE brands, as well as overseeing the content, direction, and future of the publication. Candidates must be self-starters who can thrive in both a start-up and corporate environment.
The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $90,000 - $100,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You’ll Do:
Manage and lead the BIKE editorial team, including assigning stories and overseeing the writing, editing, and production process of the publication
Ensure that the content is accurate, of high quality, honors the BIKE voice, and make final decisions on any controversial or sensitive material
Reestablish BIKE as an industry-leading voice on all aspects of mountain biking
Maintain and grow mountain biking and cycling industry relationships whilst collaborating to bring more top talent to BIKE – such as writers, athletes, photographers, videographers, and other bike industry insiders
Consistently ensure high standards of excellence, collaboration, and creativity across teams
Work with the business or management team to develop and implement strategies for growing the audience and increasing revenue.
Represent BIKE at public events, competitions, and other bike industry gatherings
Keep up to date with mountain biking trends, developments, gear, and news to guide the editorial direction of the publication
Continuously look for new ideas and opportunities to improve BIKE and continue its success
Manage the budget for the editorial department, making sure that resources are allocated in the most efficient and effective way
Ensure a robust editorial calendar and pipeline of future content, whilst continuously uplevelling imagery, advising on content experiences and collaborating on all social, commerce and experiential formats.
What You’ll Bring:
Absolute dedication to elevating mountain biking content and the outdoor industry
8-10 years minimum of prior experience in editorial leadership
Prior experience working in mountain biking or outdoors sports media
Ability to communicate at an executive level to share ideas, investment cases and performance.
Strong relationships in the bike industry across social media, editorial, business development, marketing and PR/Talent entities
Excellent knowledge of bike industry trends and latest technologies
Professional maturity, integrity, discipline, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills
Exceptional presentation skills
Regular access to a bike park or mountain biking trails
Passion for mountain biking and its various disciplines
Deep knowledge of the bike industry, athletes, brands, and events
Personal collection of profound biking experiences that inspire you
Track record of leading by example, and with integrity, toward your teams and Arena colleagues
