Your missions

We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join a well-established, family-run SME, that provide innovative products into the Building Merchant networks across the UK. Your overall responsibility for field sales in the North of the UK, will be to build and maintain relationships with existing customers whilst hunting for prospective new customers. You will prepare compelling sales proposals for prospect customers and identify opportunities within existing accounts.

This role will cover the North of the UK including Scotland, the ideal candidate will be situated in Leeds/Sheffield or surrounding areas - with the flexibility to travel to customer sites 3/4 days a week. You will also be required to attend a monthly sales meeting at the company head office in Brighton.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (DOE) Bonus: £10,000 (OTE)
Benefits: Company car, fuel card, NEST Pension, 21 days holiday + statutory.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Plan, execute and review F2F sales appointments with customers and prospects in the North region.
  • Prepare and present competitively priced proposals to fulfil the needs of customers and prospects in the North region.
  • Follow up proposals, book appointments and follow up appointments with customers and prospects in the North region.
  • Attend and participate in weekly and monthly sales meetings, contributing ideas and feedback from customers etc.
  • Track, monitor and analyse customer spend (turnover and GP) and product take up in the North region.
  • Encourage add on sales and identify and exploit up sell and cross sell opportunities.
  • Identify new opportunities and threats that exist in the marketplace and feedback to management for action.
  • Assist with the launch of new products by performing customer research and product trials with selected customers etc.
  • Effectively resolve any customer issues to their satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of success in face to face sales
  • Strong understanding of the builder’s merchant market would be beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environment.
  • Good familiarity with CRM systems
  • Willingness to travel extensively with the designated area.

General working hours: 07:30 - 16:30 (Mon-Fri)
