the job: 

The Director of Ecommerce Sales will own the seasonal programming, promotional strategy, content & inventory for amika’s DTC and ecommerce partner sites (Amazon). They will direct the day-to-day online operations relating to our brand’s ecommerce promotions, gift with purchase, and exclusive offers strategies with oversight responsibility for top line sales, KPIs, promotional and evergreen SKU budget and maintaining bottom line profit targets for the sales channels. This will include the expansion and adoption plan of key margin driving and customer building programs such as loyalty and subscription. This position will collaborate closely with but not limited to the Senior Director of Ecommerce Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Creative, Production, Finance, Legal and Consumer Experience. 
 
This role will also lead the effort to fully understand and analyze the profitability of key initiatives, from gifts with purchase, to free shipping, to different promotional constructs, optimizing the business for top line and bottom-line growth. As part of this effort, they will work closely with the SVP of sales and VP of Ecommerce, as well as the Senior Director of Ecommerce Strategy and the Director of Technical Strategy as well as Planning and Finance teams during annual and monthly planning. 
 
The Director of Ecommerce Sales will help the team plan and execute our new product launches while driving our priority core franchises in unique and creative ways that elevate the amika brand experience. They will optimize key online metrics such as qualified traffic and opt-ins, new and repeat buyers, sales, CVR, CLTV, AOV, UPT, and gross margin by platform and channel. The Director of Ecommerce Sales reports to VP of Ecommerce in strong partnership with SVP of Sales. The Amazon account manager will report to this role.

what you'll do:

Strategy & Sales Goals: 

  • Own the commercial marketing and promotions strategy for amika’s high growth Ecommerce businesses for Amazon and DTC in partnership with the Ecom leadership team. 
  • Drive and deploy Amazon commercial strategy from inception to execution. 
  • Partner with the Ecom team leads to align on and implement site priorities needed to drive commercial targets for DTC. 
  • Manage business analysis of all marketing and CRM programs as well as P&L impact for continuous improvement to all Amazon and DTC business. 
  • Partner with the Ecom and planning teams to ensure the monthly forecasting and P&L creation will deliver our Amazon and DTC targets. Drive mitigation planning as needed.  
  • Lead the optimization of improvements on gross to net margin across Ecommerce channels. 
  • Lead the approach and commercial execution of the online international expansion related to all aspects of the Amazon and DTC businesses. 

Marketing & Promotions: 

  • Manage and optimize Ecommerce A&P budgets for Amazon and DTC to define and own calculations as well as maximize ROI. 
  • Own development and maintenance of the promotional calendar and promotional strategy (including GWPs, samples, discounting, deals and full-size giveaways) in close partnership with the marketing, ecom website strategy and retention leads to align activities with broader cross-channel plans for Amazon and DTC. 
  • Responsible for internal team alignment of promotional strategy and activations prior to content briefing process as well as subsequent briefing of content for Amazon and DTC. 
  • Create strategies to drive e-commerce differentiation and exclusivity at channel level for Amazon and DTC. 
  • This includes commercial outcomes of CRM driven activities such as email and SMS in partnership with global marketing (360 view) and retention team (data, insights, and tactical strategy). 
  • Accountable for strategic needs and deliverables to support the businesses and marketing plans, including but not limited to site creative development, content updates, promotional cadence, and sampling opportunities, ensuring that all aspects of website content (homepage, collections, merchandising, item descriptions, meta tags and descriptions, etc.) are always accurate, up to date and align with the brand marketing and content calendar priorities. 
  • Collaborate with the brand digital marketing and Ecommerce retention and analytics teams to ensure alignment across paid media budgets, product/promotional focuses, and performance insights and actions across Amazon and DTC. 
  • Manage and guide the adaptation of brand digital marketing initiatives for online platforms to maximize visibility and enhance user engagement for Amazon and DTC. 
  • Collaborate with the ECommerce team to plan and execute the go-to-market (GTM) process for Amazon and DTC with a focus on cross-channel dynamics. 
  • Give guidance as needed on special projects and site features to build brand awareness and support external web programs for Amazon and DTC. 
  • Work closely with Marketing, PR, and Sales to optimize offline advertising and partner relationships to drive online awareness and increase opt-ins and revenue for Amazon and DTC. 

Analytics: 

  • Utilize our granular 1P data in partnership with the director of retention to drive best in class user experiences across Ecommerce channels. 
  • Partner with analytics team to understand insights, consumer trends, market analysis and customer cohorts, and apply learnings to drive the creation and management of promotions. 
  • Provide weekly insights and recurring monthly performance reviews for leadership in partnership with performance analytics team for Ecommerce channels.  
  • Analyze selling trends and drive quick action to help improve results across Amazon and DTC. 

Planning & Lifecycle Management: 

  • Own development and maintenance of the daily sales, promotional calendar and promotional strategy planning and forecasting (including GWPs, samples, discounting, deals and full-size giveaways) in close partnership with the marketing and retention teams to align activities with broader cross-channel plans and incorporate them best across Amazon and DTC. 
  • Drive monthly sales forecasting to bridge offline marketing activities with online initiatives and activations for Amazon and DTC. 
  • Partner with internal teams on managing excess inventory through promotional opportunities across Ecommerce channels.  
  • Own the product lifecycle strategy across all amika websites from product creation, product-related content, digital assets, assortment sheets and merchandising strategy for Amazon and DTC. 

 

must haves:

  • Proven track record of 10+ years of online marketing experience required. E-commerce experience required. Amazon experience required. BA/BS required, MBA preferred. 
  • Experience in beauty and prestige highly preferred. 
  • Must be capable of adapting offline brand vision to online channel and implementing strategies that consistently guide the business towards that vision. 
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, budgeting and P&L management required. 
  • Innovative problem-solver and creative thinker, able to flourish in dynamic settings, efficiently manage and prioritize several projects at once, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
