As the Senior Specialist, Digital Analytics & Tag Management  you’ll be responsible for driving our Google Analytics 4 and tag management strategy. You will be managing the implementation of new tags, triggers variables, and ensuring we do so in a compliant manager to keep our customers' data safe. 

You’ll collaborate with channel owners across marketing and Engineering to enhance our GA and GTM infrastructure to provide more insights to stakeholders enabling them to optimize efforts on their channels.

What you’ll do as a Senior Specialist, Digital Analytics & Tag Management at Vanta:

  • Site Tagging & Tracking Strategy:  Develop and maintain comprehensive site tagging & tracking data capture strategies using URL query params, UTMs, etc. that help align with the marketing team's objectives and measurement goals. Stay up to date on tools and trends that can help us better understand and report out on our onsite user journey.

  • Google Tag Manager Custom Configurations: Configure and manage Google Tag Manager accounts, containers, tags, triggers, and variables to meet specific tracking requirements. Configure and customize Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties, events, and parameters to effectively track user interactions, events, and conversions

  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Thoroughly test and debug Google Tag Manager tags to ensure accurate data collection and prevent data discrepancies. Provide recommendations and implement changes to improve tracking. Monitor and analyze Google Tag Manager data to identify tracking issues, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization

  • Developer Collaboration: Work closely with developers to implement data layer specifications and ensure seamless data flow between the website and Google Tag Manager; familiarity with CSS and Javascript is a plus.

  • Cookie Consent Management: Work to ensure our cookie consent management tool stays up to date when we add new tags/tracking and/or make any changes to our data collection/retention in GA to ensure we stay compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and CCPR. 

  • Documentation & Training: Maintain documentation for Google Tag Manager configurations, tagging strategies, and tracking implementations. Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on reporting and new enhancements as they are rolled out.

  • Reports & Data Visualization: Develop and implement custom reports in GA4 to provide insights into key performance indicators (KPIs), user behavior, and conversion pathways. Work with the data engineering team to get data into our data warehouse and work with our Marketing Analyst on Tableau reports. Create new dimensions and parameters in GA4 to capture specific data points relevant to business goals and objectives. Interpret user journey stories using GA4 to understand how visitors navigate through the website, identify drop-off points, and optimize conversion funnels.

How to be successful in this role:

  • Proven experience working with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics in a professional capacity

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for developing custom Google Tag Manager tags and implementing tracking solutions is preferred but not required

  • Experience managing stakeholder requests, prioritizing, and communicating timelines 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and troubleshoot tracking issues effectively

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with different teams

  • Experience in presenting reports and strategic recommendations to stakeholders

  • Familiarity with other web platforms (e.g. Mutiny, webflow, Termly, Google Search Console) is a bonus

  • Google Analytics certification is preferred but not required

We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The salary or OTE range for this position is $119,000 - $140,000. This role may also be eligible for commissions/bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
