The University of New Mexico Foundation seeks applications for the position of Associate Director of Development, UNM Hospitals/UNM Children’s Hospital.  This position participates and/or provides leadership, as appropriate, in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of fund-raising projects and programs to meet established development goals, strategies, and objectives. Personally identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards corporate and foundation donors and prospects in accordance with performance targets set by the UNM Foundation and at levels defined by the UNM Foundation. Plans and coordinates projects, programs, and activities to increase visibility among internal and external constituencies, including alumni, corporations, foundations, the business community, patients, and others. Identifies and cultivates prospects and solicits gifts set in accordance with UNM Foundation targets. Collaborates with colleagues in the UNM Foundation and UNM Hospitals/UNM Children’s Hospital to maximize total gift revenue.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works with UNM faculty, staff and administrators in the formulation of strategies and creation of funding proposals for submission to local, regional, national, and international corporate and/or foundation-based entities. 
  • Matches faculty programs to potential funding organizations; works with appropriate parties to identify potential organization donors. 
  • Conducts research to identify prospects and creates strategies to match organizational prospects' interests to the priorities of the University. 
  • Researches, writes, edits, or oversees the preparation of persuasive, and accurate solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other communication materials in support of fund-raising activities. 
  • Meets with and represents the unit and the Foundation to various institutional constituencies, as well as to corporations, foundations, funding agencies, government agencies, and other colleges and universities, as appropriate. 
  • Records all activities in the prospect management and CFR databases and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of corporate and foundation donors, prospects, and volunteers in coordination with overall objectives. 
  • Provides stewardship for existing donors. 
  • Writes proposals, budgets, reports, and other ancillary materials. 
  • Participates in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives.
  • Monitor fundraising goal for department. 
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 
     

Required Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution required
  • Three (3) or more years related experience in development/fundraising 
  • Experience in higher education or other non-profit organization
  • Preference given for experience in healthcare philanthropy and grateful patient programs

 

Compensation Salary Range :

$50,000 - $60,000

Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
