Policy Implementation Project Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION  

 

Location: Remote; Anywhere in the Continental US

Reports to: Director of Policy Implementation

Position: Full time, 40 hours per week, exempt employee 

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

JOB PURPOSE  

 

The Policy Implementation Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects by building timelines, tracking progress toward milestones, keeping team members aware of their deadlines, and managing budgets. You are not expected to be an expert in recycling policy but will need to be a strong collaborator and project manager.  

 

The Policy Implementation Project Manager will sit on the Policy Implementation Team, which is part of the broader Policy Team. The Policy Team both advocates for new, effective EPR policies and also helps states and PROs implement EPR legislation that has already passed. We work cross-functionally both with other teams at the Partnership and with a number of outside stakeholders.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS JOB

85% - Project Management of PRO and State Deliverables

  • Develop and manage plans to efficiently deliver projects and meet milestones.
  • Facilitate team meetings to cultivate discussion of topics while getting through a full agenda. 
  • Track progress towards deadlines and support cross-functional teams to keep projects on track.
  • Provide strategic thinking on the project by anticipating potential risks and suggesting solutions to those risks, while also identifying potential opportunities and preparing the team to respond to those opportunities. 
  • Create documents and presentations based on research and team input in response to internal or external requests while working with team members to develop content.
  • Effectively communicate team needs related to people, tools, data and partners to all levels of the organization.
  • Be responsive and flexible to client needs and timelines. 

 

15% - Support Project Management Systems

  • Managing projects to evaluate and build the capability, tools, processes, and resources needed to set us up for future success.
  • Identifying processes or systems that could help the Partnership manage projects more effectively.
  • Support invoicing of clients.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES FOR THIS JOB  

 

  • Understanding of project management and how to plan and implement projects
  • Budgeting
  • Tracking and monitoring projects
  • Knowledge of recycling not required but is a plus
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborating with a variety of team members and clients
  • Facilitation of meetings with many voices
  • Attention to detail and quality of deliverables
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to be confident in leading and directing meetings with opinionated participants, ability to think 10 steps ahead on a project and what we need to do now to hit targets and avoid risks, ability to see opportunities and gaps that the policy team could help fill, working with people with a variety of working styles.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES

 

  • 4-Year (Bachelors’) Degree or equivalent experience required. 
  • Minimum 5 Years’ Project Management Experience 
  • PMP Certification a plus.
