POSITION SUMMARY

Alterra Mountain Company is seeking a data-driven, Procurement Senior Manager to lead our procurement activities across multiple indirect categories including IT.  The individual must bring a strategic view with a proven track record of driving procurement interventions and value through senior leader influencing, data driven analysis, and problem-solving solutions that gain acceptance of business lines.  A leader who can help deliver against business strategies through creation and alignment of appropriate procurement strategies. Who has a bias for action and execution.  Who has broad experience in strategic sourcing to include IT (hardware, equipment, SAAS, services, security, networking) and other indirect categories (energy, professional services, MRO, etc.)  To succeed, the Senior Manager will build effective connections and relationships across the organization and with resort and function leaders.  This will be accomplished by extensive internal communications, personally delivering through such activities as negotiating and executing enterprise and function agreements that maximize Alterra’s procurement leverage and value; identifying, adapting, and implementing best practices; improving/re-engineering existing procurement processes; and optimizing Alterra’s supplier base.

The Senior Manager will report to the Vice President of Procurement, helping develop company strategies while partnering with business leaders, and their direct reports/partners across resorts and in Shared Services.  There are no direct reports at this time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, coordinate and execute multiple category sourcing projects concurrently. 
  • Evaluate savings opportunities to ensure projected savings are achieved, based on the best supplier selection being made (dollar savings, degree of difficulty, transition, capabilities).
  • Compile, analyze and present data on sourcing interventions and spend under management.  Present data in a manner from which accurate conclusions and appropriate decisions concerning the category and business strategy can be made.
  • Manage the process of contract implementations.  Serve as liaison between the legal department and supplier to speed the process, protect the best interest of Alterra contractually, and ensure successful and timely contract implementations.
  • Perform periodic supplier performance reviews (SPR) to communicate actual and perceived performance issues with suppliers.
  • Continuously develop procurement skills and knowledge of supply base through research, due diligence, training, bench-marking and other means.
  • Secures buy-in at all levels of the organization.  Communicates vision, purpose, and savings opportunities to senior management of function and resorts.  
  • Develops communications/change management strategies by identifying target customers, users, vendors, and support staff to communication vision, purpose, and savings opportunities to overcome issues associated with change.
  • Conducts sourcing.  Develops inquiries and negotiation plans.  Aligns success criteria to make supplier decisions.  Analyzes vendor bids, negotiates enterprise-wide agreements.  Reviews data and works with subject matter experts to determine which vendor(s) best meets Alterra's requirements.  Selects the vendors that meet and fit Alterra's requirements focusing on best value - price, terms, delivery, quality, etc. Implements contracts. 
  • Serves as a link between the business teams and the Shared Services Procurement team.  Ensures clear understanding of business needs.  Develops category sourcing strategies relevant for the business.  Helps communicate and implement the strategies with business teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Procurement.
  • Critical to have experience in IT categories and other indirect sourcing experience.   
  • Proficient in all manner of sourcing from category strategy creation to execution, tailoring to best fit the situation, and demonstrated use of best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading Procurement interventions through influencing senior leaders and obtaining excellent results

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain or or related field. 

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Denver area base salary range: $127,000 to $184,000 per year
