We are a Series A SaaS company and provide the system of record for event marketing. Our software platform provides proprietary insights that helps high-growth companies find the highest ROI events, conferences and trade shows to attend and sponsor. We have built an AI-powered platform that customers describe as an event marketer’s dream.

Vendelux was founded in 2021, and our recent $14 million Series A was led by FirstMark, whose portfolio includes companies like Shopify, Pinterest, Discord, Airbnb, Draft Kings, Carta and Justworks (amongst others). Our leadership team includes alumni from Shutterstock, Bain, Google, IBM and Compass.

As a Staff Platform Engineer at Vendelux, you will help shape the technical strategy for our products and systems.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Be the technical owner for features end-to-end, including the systems that power our data platforms and best-in-class web application

  • Ship high quality, secure, and well-tested software that scales as highly distributed systems, using incremental deliveries based on data driven prioritization and decisions

  • Solve interesting and challenging technical problems, coordinating technical roadmap deliveries across our product team and front end engineers

  • Collaborate with our operations and revenue teams, as well as our users to respond, react, and plan feature delivery based on user feedback and analytics

  • Identify opportunities to work across our stack, and areas of the business, to help meet the needs of a quickly scaling business and product

  • Work closely with our leadership team to define our product roadmap and technical strategy, and continuously improve our development process and engineering practices

  • Be a technical leader and valued contributor in an autonomous, cross-functional agile team

  • Mentor a growing team of engineers through pair programming and code reviews, on performant, scalable engineering principles, with a focus on iterative delivery

We don't expect you to come knowing all of these tools, but sometimes it's nice to know what to expect! Familiarity with these is a bonus:

  • Python, MySQL, Typescript, and React form the basis of most of our services and client applications

  • Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS

  • A combination of Snowflake, Dagster, and Sigma for our data warehouse & intelligence needs

  • A mixture of Datadog, Cloudwatch, and PagerDuty for our monitoring, telemetry, and incident response management

  • We use GitHub for our source control, and Docker for containerized instances

  • We believe in using the right tool for the job, while opting for simplicity and consistency across the stack where feasible

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience building complex applications using a modern language (from Java to Typescriptl)

  • Track record of shaping and shipping valuable features

  • Track record of driving high-leverage improvements to infrastructure and process

  • Judgment to take on technical debt and risk where appropriate

  • Strong communication skills, especially written.

  • Nice-to-have: Previous startup experience

  • DevOps or platform/infrastructure experience (or deep interest)
