Through the backing of its financial sponsor, Crosstimbers Capital Group, Coast expects to finance, develop, own, and operate $400+ million of commercial solar and energy storage projects across the United States over the next several years. Coast owns the solar systems installed on the roofs of commercial buildings and sells solar electricity to building owners at a rate typically less than their current electricity provider. EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND REQUIREMENTS

Coast has identified the need for an Solar Engineer to play a pivotal role in the technical development of solar and storage projects across both early and late-stage project development. Responsibilities include:

Early-Stage Development Support:

  • Generate preliminary system designs and production models to support Coast’s Origination team
  • Conduct site evaluations and site walks, providing technical support and communication with customers during initial project phases
  • Research industry trends, new equipment, and evolving codes and standards to ensure the latest knowledge is integrated into designs
  • Collaborate with Coast’s Origination team to offer engineering and economic-based solutions that directly impact project success
  • Develop layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), and equipment evaluation/selection for PV + BESS systems

Project Estimation:

  • Drive project estimation by providing cost analysis, layouts and design specifications
  • Create and maintain labor and material cost sheets for accurate financial model inputs and true-to-design project estimating
  • Evaluate contractor bids and advise on the accuracy of project estimates

Field Work and Travel:

  • Prepared and excited to be in the field as necessary for site evaluations and walks
  • Attend industry conferences and maintain industry connections with manufacturers and vendors
  • Include periodic travel to office if remote, Tuesday-Thursday in office if local.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of PV design and project estimating experience for C&I projects at a solar EPC, including C&I rooftop, carports, ground-mounts
  • Experience designing PV+BESS systems, microgrids and/or EV chargers
  • Proficiency with PV design and production modeling tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AKRA 360, PVCAD, PVcase, etc.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Energy Tool Base
  • Experience performing site walks and site evaluations
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized individual
  • Innovative and organized self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
  • Trustworthy, empathetic, and relationship-oriented individual
  • Energetic and driven personality who thrives in a high-paced, dynamic, small-company environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and NABCEP certification preferred
