Principal Engineer Architecture

Location Details: India - Remote

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This position may be a hybrid or fully remote position, as decided by your manager. If designated as hybrid, you’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office location, so you should live within commuting distance. If designated as remote, you’ll be working remotely from your home and may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings. What you'll get to do...

Join our diverse team at GoDaddy as our new Principal Engineer, Architecture and embrace a role in crafting and implementing solutions for our hosting products. Have a direct influence across multiple teams and product lines including Managed WordPress, Web Hosting and SSL. GoDaddy offers an excellent opportunity to develop high-scale solutions that effect millions of our customers. Our Partners Architecture team provides guidance, mentorship, design and implementation assistance to multiple teams across GoDaddy's business units.

• Collaborate with our teams to craft solutions for products across our hosting product lines
• Determine and apply innovative workload isolation solutions, such as EBF and containers
• Mentor our teams of engineers across India, Serbia and the UK, helping to them to reach their full potential
• Devise outstanding code day to day, and innovate, lead, and be conducive to technical architecture for scalable secure systems
• Recognise and recommend if workloads should be targeted to the cloud or to our GoDaddy datacenters
• Craft highly scalable, highly available applications
• Embrace newer technologies such as serverless, micro-services, containers and distributed architectures
• Implement high value components in collaboration with engineering teams
• Provide technical thought leadership and mentorship to diverse teams

Your experience should include...

• 8+ years confirmed experience in a software engineering role in a global organisation
• 8 + years validated experience building large scale applications or solutions
• 2+ years’ experience in Cloud computing, using publicly available services (AWS Services preferred)
• Strong experience in multiple programming languages, including Golang, Java, Python, Node, PHP, etc
• Hands on daily experience in writing, testing and deploying code using CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Practical hands-on experience of containers, i.e docker
• In depth experience with Linux, including file systems, networking and security
• Distributed and high availability systems design, including knowledge about trade-offs and limiting complexity

You might also have...

• Experience in the hosting industry
• Familiarity with WordPress
• Experience running large scale PKI infrastructure, including your own CA
• Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
