Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services Company, is seeking a dedicated Child Welfare Subject Matter Expert to join a collaborative remote team supporting the Unaccompanied Children (UC) Program. The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge of child welfare systems and best practices, particularly in the foster care services arena. This position will work closely with UC Program leadership and the UC Program Community-Based Care workgroup to provide expert insight and guidance on fostering care services for unaccompanied children under ORR custody. The individual will analyze care models, processes, and program initiatives while ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

The Child Welfare Subject Matter Expert will work as part of a remote team to share advanced knowledge of foster care services and child welfare best practices for unaccompanied children. Key responsibilities include providing subject matter expertise, analyzing care models, and supporting program leadership in implementing new levels of care based on regulatory considerations. The individual will collaborate with the UC Program leadership to enhance the quality of care for unaccompanied children.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in child welfare, early childhood development, social work, child psychology and counseling, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working directly in the child welfare field with local programs or state-funded systems
  • Strong working knowledge of foster care system governing laws, statutes, and regulations
  • Experience with community-based care systems for foster care and best practices for foster children and family or sponsor family reunification.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in child welfare systems and best practices
  • The ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance is required.
  • Strong understanding of foster care system laws, statutes, and regulations
  • Experience working directly with local programs or state-funded child welfare systems.
  • Knowledge of community-based care systems for foster care
  • Ability to provide expert guidance and analysis on care models and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills for qualitative and quantitative assessments

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with legislative and regulatory requirements in the child welfare field
  • Experience with foster children and family or sponsoring family reunification.
  • Knowledge of best practices for fostering care services
  • Understanding of collaborative work within a remote team environment.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
