Title : Senior Manager - Mental Health & Psychosocial Support

In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1 – Oversight of MHPSS activities in domestic operations

  • Responsible for upholding MHPSS minimum standards in domestic response operations.
  • Monitor relevant dashboards related to readiness, emergency operations and workforce planning and identify trends and gaps.
  • Act as main contact with Geography’s Operations senior leadership (i.e Senior Managers and Directors) to address emerging challenges related to domestic response operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring MHPSS domestic response activities and practices comply with federal and provincial/territorial legislation and regulatory standards.

Responsibility 2 – Strategic Planning for MHPSS Domestic Response Sub-service and sub-service oversight

  • In collaboration with PGIE Manager, design, communicate and execute Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for MHPSS in Domestic Operations, and ensure alignment with the Service’s overall strategy.
  • In collaboration with Senior Manager, Quality and Capacity Development, review debriefings and community feedback to design, communicate and execute Continuous Improvement Plan for domestic operations.
  • Set goals and objectives through measurable key performance indicators for the domestic operations team, and monitor progress and performance.

Responsibility 3 – Budget Management

  • Assist Director in the development of budget for Public Safety Canada-funded MHPSS activities in domestic operations, including staff and roster salaries, training, materials, and administrative expenses.
  • Monitor and track expenses and cost recoveries against the approved budgets. Identify any discrepancies or deviations and take appropriate actions to escalate and/or address them.

Responsibility 4 – People Management

  • Ensure all members of MHPSS domestic operations team (roster and staff) have clear workplans and performance targets, access to regular 1:1 meetings with their supervisor, and opportunities for further development and growth are included in their professional development plan.

What we are looking for :

  • Completion of a graduate degree in Social Work or similar field (e.g. public health, child & youth care, nursing, psychology) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registration in good standing in a clinical designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), protection and violence prevention, and psychosocial support in emergencies.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive job experience in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), wellness/wellbeing, social services program implementation required; with 5 years of people management.
  • Experience in emergency management including in response.
  • Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and respect of Indigenous culture and traditions, and cultural diversity.
  • Experience working with Indigenous populations is a strong asset.

Working Conditions :

  • This position will primarily require remote work or work from a home environment.
  • If driving for society business; a valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory drivers’ abstract.
  • While the majority of the work is expected to be conducted on regular business hours, this position might require irregular working hours on evenings or on the weekends, as determined by operational needs
  • Periodic travel to field missions may be required and this can involve working in environments that are unstable and unpredictable requiring very strict adherence to security regulations and with limited access to basic services and will require working non-traditional hours and therefore, a demonstrated ability to work in stressful and often ambiguous conditions is required.
